Drive to Zhagana Ancient Village - a beautiful "wonderland" in Gansu Province
Zhagana Village is located in Yiwa Township, Diebu County, Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Gansu Province. It is about 30 kilometers from Diebu County to Zhagana, and an asphalt road leads to the village. Diebu County is 2,400 meters above sea level, Zhagana Village is 3,000-3,300 meters above sea level, and the highest peak in the surrounding area is 4,500 meters above sea level. "Zhagana" is Tibetan, meaning "stone box". Zhagana is a complete natural "stone city", commonly known as the "Palace of the King of Hell". The terrain resembles both a large-scale palace and a complete ancient city built on natural rock walls.
More than 80 years ago, Locke once walked here, which is also known as Shambhala - Shangri-La in Gansu Province.
On December 31, 2019, it was named as the third batch of "China's Ethnic Minority Characteristic Villages" by the National Ethnic Affairs Commission.
Tickets: Entrance to Zhagana from the south from Zhagulu Town is free (take Locke Tour to enter Zhagana), full admission to Zhagana Scenic Area from Diebu County to the north is 80 yuan per person; half-ticket for students aged 6 to 18; Children under 6 years old or under 1.2 meters and senior citizens over 65 years old are free.
