They do have a history of working with interesting Internet-based artists and animators for that kinda stuff too, so it's not even that improbable either. i thinnk theres a number of ways to interpret it. one way i thought was like, a person who (with good intentions or not) wants to hear your probelms " i understand your problems" but then comes up with their own very surface level 'admissions' of troubles as well. "shucks i'm shy", "one time I cried", in an attempt to relate. so they understand your problems, but not really, because their life has been easy. in this interpretation "ground vision" could be the perspective of those who experienced more plight, but they don't *truly* have ground vision based off their admissions. look at their body language when they say "one time i cried" in the video, to understand what i mean by this interpretation that i seriously can't articulate well lmao. like haven't we all had that one friend who we vent to about something, like "oh my mom died yesterday" and they respond with something like "omg i totally understand the pain you're in, when i was 4 i got a pet hamster and it died 2 weeks later, i was really sad :(" another interpretation i had was being too resistant to share your troubles with people. i actually relate to this one. it's easy to say you're shy or that you've cried once, because those are universal human experiences, but me and a lot of people have been subconsciously trained to hide any real suffering.
@niraea9 ай бұрын
also notice how in the second 'our hearts have hands, so put her there" they reach out to the creature's heart hand and then right away they back away, saying they have somewhere else to be so they have to go. there's definitely an underlying "ick" about sharing issues with others, which could be from the perspective of the sharer *or* the shared to

@@idoit367 that one line is so good and it honestly fits all three intepretations on this thread. it gets so hard to talk when you always chew your chalk... could be about struggling in a conversation due to awkwardness, having trouble opening up due to repression, or being in a one-sided conversation with a self absorbed person/someone on a different wavelength! anyways this is why i love songs with vague and/or opaque lyricism. it's fun to think of all the different perspectives a song could relate to. even when maybe it was written with no deeper meaning in mind :)

i watched this video the day it came out and thought "wow this is a banger. i don't really get it though" and it took me weeks to finally start to piece together what this song means (to me) to me, this song is about the frustrations and impostor syndrome that comes with being depressed/having any mental illness. that feeling of "oh, but am i really? what if i'm just being dramatic?" the song sorta reads to me like a conversation with a therapist. you list off all these experiences you've had in your life. i've gotten in accidents, i've gotten injured, i've had financial troubles, etc, but even though these experiences make up who you are, they are not entirely the reason why you're in therapy, right? the reason you go to therapy is so that someone can look at you and your life and say "i understand your problems". but telling anybody why you suspect you have mental illness is difficult. when you're put on the spot, your therapist asks you "what are your feelings of depression like", "what are your symptoms"... there are so many things in your head and it's frustrating how hard it is to put into words, and if you're unprepared for those questions, sometimes the best you can say is "i'm shy" or "i cried the other day". perfect admissions to prove i have ground vision please give me my meds my antidepressant dosage was increased in the weeks i was thinking about this. banger of all time

Can you explain it because I’ve watched this like 10 times now and I keep getting different interpretations each time.
@fascher_9 ай бұрын
@Bizzyb33z sure, this is just my interpretation. A lot of sentences in this song seem like they're jumbled up versions of common sayings. Like "bust that gut" = laughing/busting a gut. "I don't know how to rest this leg" = restless legs. Etc etc The idea I got from that is, it's about trying to communicate your problems to someone who thinks they understand, but doesn't understand. So the advice they give comes off as nonsensical. They use words or sayings where the meaning isn't immideatly obvious, struggling to connect their experiences with yours, even though you're both different people. This makes you more hesitant about reaching out for help The whole thing kinda reminds me of talking to neurotypical therapists as an autistic person. But, that's just my interpretation
@Bizzyb33z9 ай бұрын
@@fascher_holy crap, that’s an amazing interpretation! Honestly probably the best one I’ve heard. Way better than most of the theories I had, but somewhat close to the interpretation I had after a few more watches. I just thought it was about being generally unable to connect with other people on an emotional level despite trying your best to adhere to normal societal expectations. But in a sort of neurodivergent way.

"crashed a clunker" to "just enough to get home" are things you might do to a car and "lost a big bone" to "got left at home all alone" are all things a dog might do
