After a year of ownership, I FINALLY got an exhaust for the GS400. This Megan OE-RS catback does the trick pretty well. Let me know what you think!

I love the sound of Toyota/Lexus V8s, they sound like a V8 from an American muscle car but more uniquely smooth and refined. In my opinion they are the best sounding V8s out there.

I saw a gs400 a few days back in mint condition and lowered in black driving here in a snowstorm in Toronto...my buddy was with me and had no idea what it was, schooled him on the 1uz fe and showed him a video tour of it on KZbin and he's amazed...he loves German cars of that era and is now searching for a gs400

Finally a Megan review!!! I’ve been searching for a sound clip for a GS400 and nothing. Your was perfect becauseI also want something a bit louder but not crazy. I highway drive it and don’t want a drone. Anyway, I have the exact same 98 GS in cinnabar and nak sound. Mine is 100% stock and in the family since 2005 when we bought it off the “little old lady who drove it to church”. It why I have been slow to rip the exhaust out because the factory after 26 years is still perfect and it’s been a NJ car since new. But after listening to your video, it’s time to dig into it a bit and get that exhaust under the Xmas tree!! Thanks!

The startup and idle remind me so much of the F136 V8 engine used in Ferrari/Maserati products of the early 2000s, albeit a little bit more basey and muted vs high-pitched.

My first car was a green 98 Lexus GS 400. The previous owners installed a straight exhaust on it. I loved that car, but I live somewhere with snow and I didn't want to sell my dad's truck after he passed. I plan to buy another one when I get more time and money to afford two vehicles.

I love Lexus'. I got a 2000 LS400, granted it's not in perfect condition but it makes me want more older Lexus'. It's so hard to find an older Lexus in as great of cosmetic shape as yours, especially from copart.

I have the EXACT same car, manual-swapped and supercharged though. Yours sounds good. I like it. BTW, your HBBA (booster) is making the dreaded "pig squeal" as you may know. It's just a matter of time before that thing croaks. Source an SC430 BMC now. The failure is the accumulator motor commutators contacting the shaft and grooving it. What a stupid design.

Because there is this thing called winter tires. An RWD vehicle with winters will do a better job than an AWD vehicle with AS tires when the snow flies. Too many people rely on their AWD systems when the rubber that meets the road matters the most.

Does that trans seem to really slide into second sometimes? My dad's does that and it almost feels like its slipping. But I've watched videos of these and they all seem to do it to some degree. Strange behaving transmission. Also strange that doesn't have an LSD. The GS300s had the option.

Rear exhaust holders have to be shimmed or modified to prevent the rattle. Also to center with the tips so they are not resting on the bumper...

I have a gs430 and the stock exhaust is really way too quiet. I think Lexus wanted to make the car as smooth and quiet as possible but it sucks not being able to hear anything at all. I was planning on the Tanabe but the Megan sounds great as well!

Just a muffler delete is cheap and definitely opens it up. Removing the cats makes it absolutely roar but it's a little loud. Sounds amazing though, not raspy and crappy like say a straight piped v6.

True, but on the 430, you can fix some of that with an ECU tune that eliminates the timing retard at shift. Downshift is also faster and shift points are higher too. We’ll worth $425
