One thing to keep in mind when you first start doing this. You need to start the process of crossing your wrists much sooner than you think. You want to start hitting a slight draw or even hooking the ball in the beginning. Lily says to start with a half swing. I maintain you should start with a quarter swing. Keep in mind, this isn’t just a one range session thing. You will need to hit balls most everyday for 3-4 weeks doing this. DON’T CHEAT OR IT WON’T WORK. Also have a strong grip and closed stance. You can go to half swings the next 3-4 weeks. Same scenario hitting a bucket most everyday. What you will quickly see, is that you’re hitting the ball as far with a half swing as your playing mates with a full swing. Finally you graduate to a full swing and will be out driving most by 20 yards. It works for woods and irons. This is when you will realize what Lily says is spot on. I went through this for 8 weeks as a teenager. I know for a fact it works. During this process your swing changes and crossing your wrists adds big yardage. I went from a 20 handicap to a 7 handicap by the end of the season. Could have better if I wasn’t such a lousy putter. Give what Lily shows in this video a try but you have to be patient! Eight weeks is a small sacrifice in exchange for a lifetime of great ball striking!

I started to play golf about 4 months ago and I got coaching about one a week. Many times, I think I become a good ball striker. Then, the next day, I tried it very hard and ruin my swing and I got lost again and again. Thank you for your advice, the thing you said is really similar to me right now and I will try to play my half swing, hit ball to the left ,and have more patience.

Thank you - very helpful - I have been working on this exactly for a couple months now - all of the Pro’s do this - I had a 310 yd bomb last week in a scramble & nailed all but 2 fairways - this definitely works. (I am 63yrs old)

Thank you Lily. I've struggled with head speed because of trying to "swing faster". Your tuition has been a revelation. Even at half swing I have better outcomes than my previous efforts. As long as you are already competent at hitting the ball, this drill will gain you yards. It works with my woods off the fairway too.

Hi Lilly, again a fantastic video, explaining the arm crossover release method. For so many years amateur golfers have been told not to allow the forearms to crossover one another, especially not through impact. But I can see with your teaching method it happens after impact and although you have not emphasised it you have a wonderful body rotation through to a full finish. I really like your strategy to emphasise the crossover in order to achieve a natural release and deliver maximum club head speed. This is a fantastic video to explain a powerful natural / traditional release pattern. I can’t help feeling the modern release patterns have taken us too far towards body only release methods and neglected the traditional methods that gave son much distance to the likes of Tiger Woods. I would imagine Rory Mcilroy Weil be using this approach also. Myles

Lily, I've been watching and rewatching your videos and found them to be the most watchable, clear and impactful lessons I've ever encountered. Easy to watch and understand. Best basic information available. Wish I knew this 30 hears ago. Makes such great sense and has helped me understand and execute the golf swing like no other instruction. I've told all my friends. Thank you!

I absolutely love how simple and clear you keep each of these lessons. This is what 99 percent of golfers need to make improvements. Some teachers make the mistake of assuming everyone who plays golf should understand all the golf jargon they are used to using.

She is so right! There is only one release in the golf swing: the trail hand must over-take the lead hand. Or, as she puts it, the hands must cross. Well done!

Awesome video to show amateurs how to increase speed. That’s the true swing, even with irons that amateurs dont see in watching these types of videos. You’re doing a great job showing it.

Thank you Lily. Another valued added lesson I'm excited to practise as soon as I can. I've religously limit the amount of your videos of your lessons in one night or day because I like trying things out and see how much improvements if any. And yes I have improved. My confidence has improved my belief if I stick to the plan , the plan will work. My ball striking has been an endless journey of frustration. But 2 days ago I took to the range with the lessons on my iphone I watched your lessons on the swing plane, cross over wrist action, etc and all the reasons why my swing was inconsistent and my ball striking being unpredictable. So now you know I'm genuinely excited Lily so thank you and look forward to maybe you can play a exercise round of 3 or 9 holes which I believe others who have subscribed to your channel would be just as excited as I would be.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE TO LILY: I'm playing for 2 months now and yesterday I saw your video very attentively. Today I put what I learned from you in practice and in my game. Yesterday I topped the driver each 2 from 3 times I hit it...today I shot 150m ALWAYS ! You are an amazing teacher and Pro and your tips have done wonders for me. I even got lots of compliments from the other players!! I'm forever grateful to you ❤❤❤❤❤

If this works next time I’m on the range my mind will be blown! One question I have though, is how is the club face controlled when doing this? It seems like you’d have to have incredible timing to get a square face at impact.

Hi Lilly, great video. This is not for iron play, correct? As it would be difficult to be able to get the proper shaft lean at impact, I am assuming. What do you think?
@redghost31702 ай бұрын
Yes, it is for all clubs. I added 20 yards to my irons and I’m 57.
@cdunne16202 ай бұрын
You should still be able to maintain low point ahead of ball doing this. If not then the problem is elsewhere like swaying off the ball at takeaway, too much right side bend coming into impact or maybe little or no weight shift after transition. I think this release pattern is non negotiable to be honest
