The spring loaded points almost caught me out. Thought I was going to see a run through on the run round. Haven’t been on the line since 1989 but this video has inspired me to visit this year. What a great line. A credit to the staff there.

It always looks a little strange to see a set of points apparently set for the other branch, although it is a reasonably common practice, I did once witness a derailment caused as a result of the whole train having not cleared the points before it began to reverse, resulting in an embarrassing oops moment. I'm sure the people at the railway will be only too pleased to see you again.

I want to tell you how much I have enjoyed your pair of videos. Earlier, I watched the trip from Tenterden to Bodiam. Today I watched the return trip from Bodiam to Tenterden. Hi Tim! Gorgeous video. The steam locomotive has a very good sound and is well indexed. A pleasure to hear that 👍. It's past midnight for you again today, you can see it in the responses to the comments. I did night duty as a dispatcher for 24 years and I know it. Best regards from Hans and Cheers 🍻🇦🇹.

Hello Hans, the locomotive sounded good, especially working hard on the hill up to the station at Tenterden towards the end of the video. I often edit videos and answer comments well after midnight because it can be difficult to find time during the day, although sometimes I answer comments when I have long running jobs on my machines. I worked nights for 2 years as a toolmaker, I enjoyed it because there were no disturbances and I could get on with the more difficult jobs. Cheers. Tim.

@@Timsvideochannel1 Actually, in the eighties when I was a child, diesel locos were used. This particular line (that my backyard faced) between Subotica and Novi Sad was later electrified but I hear the rail-tracks are in dire need of replacement. It's so bad that repairs are not possible. They (the government) are talking about upgrading it but it's still in the pipeline. I just recently saw on Dulevoz YT channel that they upgraded the Novi Sad - Beograd line and it looks great: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sGbWpWuKYseDgNE But Tim, I didn't know we still have steam locos in Serbia. What a surprise and it shows how little I know about my country of origin. Thanks for providing a link to this gem of a video. The views are scenic and the steam loco looks ancient but still very useful, from the looks of it. I've noticed that you have another shorter video of Mokra Gora (Wet Mountains) and I'll watch it later. Today is my rostered day off from work. 🤗 Thanks again Tim. Much appreciated! 😘

@@OmniaInNumerisSitaSunt Hi, the line shown in this video is a tourist line today, although it was once part of an extensive narrow gauge network that ran throughout much of the former Yugoslavia. This playlist of videos taken on my last trip to the former Yugoslavia shows some of the steam trains that can still be found running today - kzbin.info/aero/PLPdTWbkwx85qSOgH-kJGJ88jCpcX2aNAy I often watch videos post by Dulevoz, he covers some of the most picturesque lines in Europe. The track on some of the secondary lines in Serbia is in very poor condition, although the trunk routes are OK. I travelled in Yugoslavia before the war, the railways back then were in good condition and there were plenty of trains, now the passenger service is very sparse. I hope you enjoyed your day off. Cheers. Tim.

I have my brother-in-law, his wife and children with us at the moment (from Sydney) and my free time is mostly spent with them. They are leaving tomorrow so I am back to normal. 🤗 The railways before the war were indeed in much better condition. I believe the war set Serbia back a lot. Thanks again for the fine list that you compiled. Will be an interesting watch I am sure. 🥰👍😘

@@OmniaInNumerisSitaSunt It's nice to have relatives to stay, it's also a relief to wave goodbye and slip back into a regular routine. Apart from Croatia and Slovenia, the countries of the former Yugoslavia have not fully recovered from the war either emotionally or physically, although the people are friendly and keen to welcome tourists. Sadly tourist numbers are still low, such a shame as the countryside throughout the former Yugoslavia is some of the most beautiful to be found anywhere in the world. I hope you enjoy some of the videos in the playlist I sent. Take care and enjoy the tranquility as your life returns to normal.

Hi, Tim! Interesting this line with old-school semaphore signals and manually operated gates at the level crossings, you could reduce the image to sepiatone, add some "old film effect", fold the audio down to mono and people would think you've rescued an old reel of film and converted it to video, but alas the illusion would be spoiled by the modern cars turning up at the crossings, and parked along the side road coming into Tenterden,. plus the visibility vests worn by station staff.
@Timsvideochannel1
@Timsvideochannel1 2 жыл бұрын
Hello Neil, it is nice see history captured by these railways, especially when they hold special events, with traction engines, old busses and cars along with visitors wearing period clothing, the scene can be very convincing. I think people enjoy being part of the re-enactment. These days Hi-Vis clothing has been reduced, non of the train staff were wearing Hi-Vis vests, only the group of which I was a part visiting the railway on a behind the scenes tour were wearing vests. "Yes" adding the old film effects would create a very authentic scene from the 1930's.

Interesting signalling with no distants yet very outer homes. Is this because the K&ES is a light railway, as opposed to say the Bluebell as a heavy railway?
@Timsvideochannel1
@Timsvideochannel1 2 жыл бұрын
The signalling is set up for a relatively simple train service, with the sections being from station to station with no intermediate sections. The outer home signals indicate whether or not it is safe to proceed into the station/passing loop. I think there are more signals on the line today than there were back in the days when it was part of the national network. The signaling is typical of a lightly used branch line, whereas the Bluebell Railway can run a far more intensive service with shunting movements as can be witnessed on special event days when there are trains running within station limits as well as service trains and shunting demonstrations.

The return journey is just as delightful as the journey out. I'm wondering how large a memory card you need for long journeys? Is the video compressed a lot to reduce memory usage?
@Timsvideochannel1
@Timsvideochannel1 2 жыл бұрын
Hi, I'm pleased you enjoyed it. I use 64, 128 and 256gb memory cards, most of the time the smaller cards are fine, it's the batteries that limit the recording time, although if the camera is inside a locomotive cab then an external power pack can be used along with a big memory card offering up to 8 hrs continuous filming at 4K 30fps, I find that if I exceed these settings the camera overheats and turns itself off. I record at 4K 30fps in an MP4 format, other options are available but tend to be too memory hungry. I was using a GoPro 8 camera as it seems not to overheat like the 9 and 10, maybe by the 11 the issue will be solved. The picture quality is much the same with the 8,9 and 10, the main difference with the two later cameras is that they also have a front viewing screen.
