I want to travel on THAT train where night magically turns into day and then back again. Cool! And yes, some of the network's most beautiful stations are on the Sandringham line.

Wait for the next full solar eclipse 😆. The Sandringham line seems to be a bit of a museum line. No level crossings are currently listed for removal (thankfully).

When you ride those trains, the overhauled ones now have passenger information displays inside the carriages similar to newer Trains. Those are the ones that are planned to remain in service for years to come.

Interesting positioning move to say the least to get from the Sandringham siding to platform via Brighton Beach! But to save any delay to inbound services I guess it has to be done. Like you say, weird🤔
@tressteleg111 ай бұрын
I had to ask the driver and that was his reasoning. Sounds right. I seem to recall that when he finally got into Sandringham the next arriving train was waiting anyway.
@darylcheshire161811 ай бұрын
standardization of positioning moves, all trains from Sandy and Brighton Beach are inserted the same way.
@tressteleg111 ай бұрын
@darylcheshire1618 From what my driver tells me, the earlier trains from Sandy go straight to the platform. Just the last one out coincides with the arrival of the first from FSS.

Woow, the transition from night to day and back to night was awesome. I assume it took a while for you to get it done. Congrats, another great video! As for the train, as much as I understand the reason behind the backtracking, it totally goes against efficiency. Wouldn't it be better to simply start that service at Hampton? I don't see a loss for Sandringham passengers as it gets 2 ohter services within minutes of each other (the Comeng we first cross then the Siemens that is waiting us to clear the platform and will depart in 10 minutes tops).
@tressteleg111 ай бұрын
Yes I was happy with the transitions, the first time I had attempted anything like this. It was not as hard as it might seem. I agree that the backtracking is inefficient, but any attempt to remove the service filled by that run would result in screams of protest about discrimination or whatever, even if just a handful of people would be disadvantaged by a few minutes.

Good vid Richard. A quick question though. Why does the driver not walk back through the train to change ends instead of climbing down and walking the train back to the other end?

I will give you a clue - apart from the HCMT Trains on the Dandenong line, all trains are three car sets.

Hi Mate. I worked that out as the next train past you. I am accustomed to looking at vids of Waratah sets in NSW and our own Indian crap NGR sets here in Brisbane that are one train unit only.@@tressteleg1

I am not the cameraman or a train driver. So what happens along the way, which has not happened in any of the other night videos I have done, is just bad luck. Rather than scrap the video, I decided to insert the daytime scenes of the lost locations.
