Nice. I caught that train this morning and a lot of people are back, although not the numbers pre 2020. I am still surprised they didn't run a modified Saturday timetable given the almost zero patronage when this video was taken. Couple of things of note: - Macleod once had a spur line to the right - west of the station to the former Mont Park Asylum. - they have just added another siding, very short, at Victoria Park. They had dug the ground works for the Doncaster line when building the freeway - there is a wide centre strip on the Eastern Freeway, then filled it in! Doncaster line is still a pipe dream 45 years later. I remember that area once had multiple sidings. - the test sleepers are still at the entrance to the first tunnel Down from Jolimont. They are visible when exiting the tunnel into Jolimont. Made of steel embeded in concrete. - the Princes Bridge station signal box and part of the platforms are still there on the right at the end of the video

The theory was that the more frequent timetable would assist social distancing. Whether that was worth it in practice, who knows? Melbourne was not the only place to continue with normal timetables. Anyway it is good to hear that passengers are gradually returning. Thanks for the extra information.

Fascinating! We moved from Braeside Ave, Rosanna end of 2016 and missed all the new work at Rosanna and Heidelberg. Have been waiting for a video like this to see what happened. Miss that great rail system.

More recently duplication works have been carried out. Hopefully on my next visit to Melbourne in summer my driver will have video of this which I can show you. Just a matter of waiting for now 😊

Nice video I love the sound of those X’trapolis trains we have them on our Frankston line

The only good thing about those weird electronic noises of those trains is that it helps me identify what type of train I am riding when doing videos. 😆 The only sounds I like are they true gears sounds of the Comeng trains

I would think when the whole entire stage 6 of the network development plan completes same with the whole entire suburban rail loop, It will connect the victorians to the whole world. 🌏🌍🌎🗺️

Ahhh...the memories 🧡 Growing up in Northcote in the 60's, if we didn't catch the tram, we caught the train from Westgarth Station. I can say it hasn't changed much at all !

Love the toot in the tunnel. Just like a car driver in a v8 always kicks the accelerator pedal.

From Clifton hill down to flinders so many outbound trains I guess catering for two lines it’s needed would be hard to add an extra line in these days with the buildings beside the line

Yes, little room for an extra track.

I really enjoyed the video. I am trying to better understand the signal systems there. In Melbourne area for example a Green over Red signal means line clear proceed at the posted speed, while in Sydney that is a Green over Green signal. Green over Yellow and Green over Red have different meanings for a driver in Sydney. So at what point on a journey from Melbourne to Sydney does the signal scheme change? Are the drivers trained on both systems? Finally is there a reason the systems are so different from each other?
@tressteleg12 жыл бұрын
I am in Sydney at the moment and did a good Drivers View run in F1 this afternoon, and a variety of signal displays were seen, and as you say, all quite logical. Melbourne is another matter and every time I give signal details with those videos, I have to refer to my notes. As for train drivers, I suspect that on interstate runs just green, yellow or red are seen. Interstate drivers would change at least once along each ride and so I expect that only Victorian drivers would drive in Melbourne and thus be familiar with that system. I did prepare a video on that subject, maybe this will help you a little with it. Melbourne Train Signals Explained I Hope! kzbin.info/www/bejne/i2q5fmacoK9peMk

Awesome video mate I don’t like when every time on trains lines with new stations and underpass or rail trench it’s always got graffiti on it after the workers did hard work really annoying and I hate it 😡😡
@tressteleg12 жыл бұрын
Just shows what scumbags there are around. I noticed it on all the overhead masts in Part 1. Hopeless. As a contrast, my local Gold Coast tram line seems to have no graffiti visible anywhere.

hi do you know what the blue screen on the pole at the middle doors in the Z class trams are there blue and have a silver push button
@tressteleg12 жыл бұрын
Originally that screen you mention was for passengers to open the doors to get out at tram stops. With pay as you enter, the middle door did not open automatically. As far as I know, that screen is just to ring the buzzer to get off at the next stop but it is ages since I checked out that middle door. Maybe somebody else can tell you.

I ONLY have 1 last question. Why is the train going express through Eaglemont?
@tressteleg12 жыл бұрын
Only the person who wrote the timetable would know that. I’m sure the driver made no mistake.
@p4ttyo2 жыл бұрын
At 7:45 I noticed that it said: Flinders Street Limited Express. That’s the reason why it went express through some stations like Eaglemont.
