Driver: San Francisco - With Need For Speed Cop Radio and Music

A bit of an experiment with NFS cop radio & music added to a DSF chase in post processing, to experience how it might feel & work out. Tried to make it so everything fits into place well and there's a bit of drama going on in the chatter.
Makes me miss the older NFS games, honestly and wish DSF actually had a system similar in place.
Police radio from NFS Undercover was recorded using stereo mix over the course various chases, music extracted from Most Wanted files. Used the Felony & Moods rework in gameplay.

This was epic!! I also noticed how some ASYM Cops were joining the pursuit! Then you got the normal SUV’s Chargers, Corvettes and Crown Vics! Amazing job as usual. The undercover voices were so recognisable. Nostalgia has filled me

Modern nfs games are a sick joke and are constant repeatition of post Hot Pursuit 2010 formula, except they have worse engine sounds and music and pathetic voice acting especially for police chatter. Handling is the same mess with brake to drift. I just cant stand nfs 2015 and later games are marginal improvement. Unbound is the same just that it has some attempt at different artstyle

Love your work with Premiere so far. One thing I would have loved to have seen though is if you had used the cue at 6:50 for a moment that you're getting pinned down - with the busted countdown, just as it would in NFS. Love the synchronisation with the evasion music towards the end though. Truly a nostalgic piece of work. Well done!

Are you sure you got the right timestamp? Either way, while it's a great idea, I wasn't trying to make it look as if it was NFS. More just explore what DSF would feel like with actual police radio system in place (and music). 'Frisco has a busted countdown as well but it's more lenient. Thanks for your kind works though, fitting the music was a blast! :)

@@Olanov There's just something about that music that really works with a lot of games, as well as police chases in real-life. I can bet they're fun as hell to make. Yes, yes. Listen to the music between 6:50-7:05, that percussion section kicks in when the red bar for "busted" starts rising. Just thought that would have been a nice addition. That being said, loved every second of the video - it really gives you a fresh perspective of an already brilliant game, doesn't it?

The only way this could be even more glorious is if the soundtrack were more "dynamic". MW05's pursuit themes have discrete sections that are spliced into normal gameplay based on pursuit status: initiation, surrounded by cops, high speed pursuit, high speed cooldown, heat level increase and so on. Around the highway section you did change up the music, but not quite in a dynamic fashion. Otherwise this was fantastic. Loved it ❤

DSF doesn't (and my mod didn't at the time) have similar mechanics so had I based the music on a systematic formula it would've sounded really goofy or have too much repeat, as it changes constantly, for example, being outside of a cop's radius would trigger constantly, so a more cinematic approach was called for, as there are various other changes in tone throughout it as well. Some of my favorites include: 1:21 interim period with the horns in the background 2:25 with a break and a section I thought fit the cops initiating attempts to ram 4:20 with another interim section of relative calm on the long roadway 4:55 of course with the break and then crescendo on the highway 5:50 with another break fit for the ramp truck jump sequence 6:55 drum section for the final outro and then calming down for the actual countdown I'm glad there's still appreciation for it. NFS cop radio and music is very unrivaled!

NFS 2015 has the best cop atmosphere (with mods for better cops) because of the silence and unsettling music. I like not knowing what they’re saying or planning better. Adds some tension in a good way

I haven't played it, it looked really cool but from what my friends streamed to me I didn't like the cops that much, or their speeches. Wish they'd bring it back to around the old systems and quality of acting.

Nice! It's plenty of fun, even if it takes a while. I did a crappier video like this years ago now but it wasn't as well edited as this, but it was in film director so I guess bonus points for that for being bit more cinematic.

The end result is always well worth it in the end. I actually did everything I could to get literally EVERY different voice line I could out of both Most Wanted an Undercover just so I could have plenty of variety in each chase. It's even fun to rewatch them every now and then just to get a look at how far it's come.
