Porsche Prices!! Porsche cars are expensive, and its pretty much your fault. In this video i will run through 7 different reasons why Porsche prices are so high and expensive to buy. There is a very clever reason that most people don't understand.
THIS CHANNEL IS SUPPORTED BY DIAGNOSTIC WORLD - So if you need a scan tool for your vehicle, please consider looking through their website here - www.diagnostic-world.com/page...
The main reasons why Porsche are so expensive and have higher prices are because of the following things, 1 - Social media, people want to be cool and they feel they can do that by posting their toys on social media like Instagram, Facebook & Instagram etc. 2 - Covid did not help the situation because there was a lack of brand new Porsche cars coming to market, so potential buyers were turning to the used Porsche dealers to buy a Porsche which caused a high demand, and when demand is high, the price goes up or stays high. 3 - Lets face it, they are incredible to drive, they look amazing, the amount of engineering and craftmanship that goes into these cars it really is no wonder that everybody wants to buy a Porsche even if it does cost a lot of money. 4 - Porsche keep their prices high to ensure the brand is a premium marque, if the start price is low, the quality of the car is compromised, therefore depreciating a lot quicker which leaves the brand with a poor reputation. 5 - Keeping up with the Jones's, meaning that people see their neighbours & friends driving Porsches and they want a piece of the action. Porsche ownership is associated with success, wealth & and overall happy & successful life. People want to be seen to be successful. 6 - Interest rates, there are arguments that high interest rates can both make car prices higher or bring them down, so in this video i explain how the high interest rates can make used car prices higher. 7 - the impending doom of electric cars. The world is gearing up for a full electric car switch, meaning these combustion engines will/might be a thing of the past, and so people want a slice of the action before its too late or before the prices go even higher.

I just bought my first Porsche which I having been dreaming about since I was 15. I was able to spec it the way I wanted and that is such a treat to pay for everything you want and not anything you don’t want. I live in a middle class neighborhood and don’t like to flaunt the car. It is kept clean in my garage and I sneak it out the house early Sunday mornings to rip in the canyons. I enjoy my Porsche the most when nobody’s around and it just me and the car.

My wife and I test drove a Miata then a 718 (Boxster). When she heard the door close on the 718 she was sold. Quality is everywhere in the build. For my part I love the handling, fuel economy and storage for road trips. Top notch car for the money.

True re Porsche reliability- recently was comparing what I could get in the price range of a GT3. Talking to people who own McLarens in the same price range, along with equally performance cars at lower prices (Z06 Vette, Lotus, Nissan GTR) you cannot get a car that will withstand the punishment of the track in a reliable and classic car that will look like a Porsche 20 years from now

I own two Porsches. A 1984 911 Carrera and a 2002 Boxster S. Three years ago, the Boxster's AC needed some work. I took it to the shop where I have my Porsches serviced. The shop owner asked, "When was the AC last serviced?" I said, "Never. Well, I mean it's only 19 years old!" The shop owner said, "Well there is that."

I think this video raises some good points. I have been a Porsche specialist technician for 35 years. In that time I have seen my fair share of change in legislation, change in the economy and in particular the cycle of recessions and booms. One thing in particular on this point I have seen the early phase of a recession causing some people who are overstretched to sell their cars, and then panic when they can't sell them quickly, which makes them drop the price, which in turn makes others see a lower price, which makes the Porsche market slip down.. Then what happens is that stocks and shares stop doing well, especially if there is inflation, which in reality can make their portfolios start to seem like they are shrinking... So they put their money into Gold... Gold goes up in value, so then more people pile in, the value of gold goes up further and eventually stops increasing in value... So where do they move their money next? While all this has been happening in the financial markets, some of these Porsche at the bottom end of the market vanish from the market, either they crash and their market value being lower means they get written off, or some end up getting exported to markets not suffering from a recession so much, for example, another right-hand drive market like Australia... So just as Gold is topping out, people with some spare money go looking for what is becoming less plentiful on the market and seem to have plateaued and begun to rise... Classic cars... Then Porsche start shooting up in valve as more people jump into that market seeing the rise, which is a feedback loop of rising prices causing more people to jump in, which results in the prices rising more and so on... I have seen this happen in the late 80s and early 90s, I saw it at the end of the 90s, and I saw it after the 2008 credit crunch... And it will happen again and there is already signs that the first phase is happening now with the values of many Porsche models at all price points having fallen already, but anyone selling at these prices is quite frankly mad, because give it 18 months to two years, the prices will be shooting up again and over the next couple of years after that, they will end up twice the price they are now... Similar things happen with house prices, but the Porsche values recover and explode a couple of years earlier than house prices, or even while house prices are still going down... Many of these investors going from Gold to Porsche, tend to also see the benefit of something that is appreciating, but at the same time something they can touch, enjoy and drive as an investment. With the advent of electric cars, I also think that even once the production of combustion-engined cars may end (and there are signs this might not happen with developments of clean fuels which some manufacturers including Porsche are hedging their bets on) fuel will still be available, either fossil or new fuel replacement technologies will still be available as long as someone wants to buy it, which means the existing ICE engined Porsche, will continue to be scrapped (when their value is low) and become desirable once their value increases with lack of supply, which means I can see classic Porsche being cherished decades after the last ICE Porsche models are made, with values ever rising.

I’m an owner of 991.2 carerra S , my last car was a model s performance. The carrera is slow compared to the Tesla but the difference is how the Porsche makes me feel. I’m financially much worse off- she likes a drink but she’s worth it. The car has had new air con, rear coil springs, new air oil separator, new water pump, new oil lines to turbo, new turbo’s , new brake lines . So in my experience they are not reliable. The benefit is waiting 6 weeks for the car to return from the latest repairs and I have that new car feeling again. If you buy one I would very strongly recommend a Porsche approved car with 2 year warranty. The repairs so far have been £15,000 all covered under warranty by Porsche. My Model s was trouble free with no breakdowns or servicing costs over 120,000 miles. That makes the Porsche seem very fragile- but in away more special

A new Porsche is an expensive car. Compared with other brands it is a sound purchase. Depreciation is very low, I have seen 2-3 year old base model 911s very close to new prices. So its a good investment. Used prices are higher than many other brands, partially because unlike other brands, Porsche factory options retain a large amount of their high cost. There is a limited number for sale at any time. I also believe Porsche artificially restrict first time buyers of new cars, hence high used prices. Another factor is, they are an aspirational car, because to the majority of people, a 911 has looked the same since it was first launched, so having a 997 or a 992 impresses a lot of people. I believe its perception may be changing. My 28 year old Son does not understand the 911 following, yet loves my Cayenne.

Your last point is 100% why I ordered a Cayman GTS 4.0. 2024 is the last model year before the 718 goes EV (Porsche *may* continue to build the ICE a bit longer). I wanted to get a new manual car to last well into the EV era. As a BMW fan, I’m not fond of the current M model design and the Lotus dealer network is sparse in the USA. That led me to Porsche, and I was lucky to get an order allocation. I will have an EV as a daily driver, where they are optimal, but the fun ICE manual cars are in their final models now.

I think there are two buying groups, those that love the cars so buy them Then you get the group that buy Porsche as an investment to make profit but the bubble has burst prices now falling I know somebody with a Taycan lost £40,000 in 6 months even the petrol models now dropping£20,000. The cars were overpriced and the extras ridiculous so reality has now arrived.

I suspect that manual, flat six, analogue Porsches with no IMS/RMS/bore score issues will become highly sought-after vehicles once people start to tire of white goods BEV's & yearn for the good ol' days of soulful, characterful ICE cars. Car culture is very much alive in the UK & will only get stronger in my opinion. All we need is for synthetic fuel to come down in price & become widely available.

Where did you get the Porsche sign on your wall? My feeling is once the Porsche logo goes on the hood, the quality is implied. Therefore I don't think they will lower their quality, because they have no problem selling what they produce. Electric SUCKS period and have reached a saturation point, they are sitting twice as long as ICE on dealers lots.

Here in Australia, a 991.1 when new was 280 AUD. A used 991.1 with 40k mileage is circa 160 AUD plus. A used 981 Cayman GTS is around 160k. There is an exchange rate difference of course. Even taking this into account you can see how silly porsche pricing is in Australia. A lot of this is also due to high import tax and low sales volumes and a low population in Australia. Used car values also really jumped here during covid with low interest rates available.

While on the Gold Coast I had some time to check what a 2018 911 Carrera 4 GTS goes for with the options I have on my 2015 911 Carrera 4 GTS that I bought used in 2018 with a mere 157 kms on it (yes, less than 100 miles). The original owner would have paid CA$208,800 "out-the-door" WITH OPTIONS compared to Porsche Australia's Drive Away Price of AU$323,994 WITHOUT OPTIONS. My car had CA$45,620 in Porsche factory options and those in Australia (less two options that were not listed) were AU$76,330. The Drive Away Price with options was AU$404,520, so basically almost double the price. And we in Canada pay a lot more for Porsches than they do in the US. My theory is, any country under British rule (UK, Canada, Australia) gets taxed to death and everything costs more. I could never afford a Porsche in Australia, too bloody expensive. And that is why I have a Dan Murphy's card to save on my drink.

My opinion I grew dreaming about my dream 1979 911sc because my neighbor let me drive his when I was in high school. Finally could afford one and the bank said they will not loan on cars older than 10 years so that made me switch from a 997.2 to a 991.1 so after 2 years of hunting for the perfect spec I pulled the trigger . Could’t be happier!

Prices are massively down right now and I continue to see them drop. I use the AutoTrader Price Tracker and you can see Caymans, 911s, etc being dropped by £7k->£20K in some cases. I personally think due to two main reasons. 1. Interest rates for cars have gone mental and its just not as affordable as it was previously for people. 2. Mortgage rates have also gone crazy and we see people going from 1/2/3% to 4/5/6% it leaves less room for luxuries like a Porsche. I do think long term though your last point about the upcoming electric cars will mean these cars will retain their value but in the short term I think we will continue to see massive drops in prices.

I think the real reason was that Porsches were in a bubble. Historically they have depreciated like every other car. In 2015 I bought a 3-yr old 911 Turbo S for 120k, about $100k off new price. Lately, 3-yr old 911s have been damn near original MSRP, which is totally insane and unsustainable. They are not really limited production cars, it was just a temporary mania triggered by lockdowns like a few other market segments.

It is for Taycans but not for Tesla. You need to look at the adoption curves across the world , tipping point for exponential growth is 10% adoption. Look for Tony Seba - he’s the main man talking about disruptive technology. The consumer rules- if a product is cheaper and in some ways better they will purchase the new product - think horse and cart to car took 11 years to go from zero to over 80% adoption. Adoption starts slowly then rapidly accelerates following an S shaped curve. I love Porsche and have a 911 but I also have a Tesla and love that for different reasons

Your last comment about EV’s is important. Time will tell how EV’s will end up (the battery tech is not reliable long term, and people tire of the tech just like with old smartphones). Something else to consider is the demographically shift. Are today’s young people interested in mid ‘70s air cooled 911’s with no air conditioning or Bluetooth? I know I am, but I love those cars because they were part of my youth. I don’t know if 15 years from now, when today’s middle age guys want to unload their old 911’s that there will be young people interested in those old fashioned cars. I suspect todays high prices aren’t sustainable because todays youth just won’t be as interested in the near future. My humble opinion. Great videos, you have a great channel!

Electric only cars will not happen in my opinion and I 100% believe that! Porsche themselves have already made a solution with their synthetic fuel which is used in their own race series. On electric you cannot have charging cables down terrace streets(UK) on every house imagine the claims from tripping over them haha. We have made pretty much zero effort as a country to get the infrastructure in place so why would that change? Then what are we going to do with all the old knackered batteries, hardly good for the world is it haha. Porsche prices are always high and in demand for 911's anyway no other model really, down to desirability and when we justify buying one to ourselves we "think" it will be much cheaper than other alternatives. For eg I dont know why anyone would want a 911 for say 60-80k over a Ferrari 360, but once you think of running costs, reliability, parts availability etc etc you think I will get a Porsche :D

Porsche is rare that its cool when old. Not many sportscars stay that way. Most well off rich people would not buy any other car so old. Like amg mercedes. They buy new and 10year old is not ok for them anymore

I could be wrong but I think most people who buy a Porsche will pay cash and not finance the car.

Paying cash is a poor person’s idea of a rich person’s behavior. Only pay cash if interest rates are higher than the return on your investments. Thats usually true as of Nov 2023, but with historically lower interest rates it was better to leave money invested and finance the car.

I bought both my 993 and 991.1 Carrera 4 GTS and paid cash. I do not take loans out for toys and besides, I am too poor to make interest payments as a "tech".

They are expensive due to the fact that they are the only automaker who can build a rear engine sport car, and they have perfected it for more than half a century !!! 🤣🤣🤣

It's more about will I drive that perfectly then being expensive is worth it and this goes for any car bdw,any costly car tries to make the most compact and driver friendly components in one package that never means the driver will drive it well,it all depends how much and what you have driven in your experience,no clap is formed by one hand likewise no best car will be there without the best drivers, and there is minimum one exclusive feature of each car brand which is highlighted primarily then comes the other ones

EV's won't have the same lifespand as ICE cars all because of the batteries. Massive writeoffs are to be expected on them. My 986.2 is paid for and even at ridiculous gass prices it would be cheaper to run and maintain than an butugly EV..

The new car prices of Porsche products are bad enough, but try to spec one out and prepare to gasp at the you-have-got-to-be-kidding-me prices for options! Why should one paint color, for example, cost more than any other? And that's just one of many, many examples. I'm not talking about paint to match, which used to be a Porsche Exklusive option; I'm talking about catalog colors. $800 for different color gauge faces! And on and on.

Are Porsches that expensive? Compared to what other cars? Lets look at a Corvette C8. If you work on these cars and I am not talking about an oil change, you quickly find out which of the two is better built. And if you cannot tell, buy the Vette. You pay for that plus the Porsche has import duties and shipping which increases the price even more than a domestic Vette.

I HATE lecteic .!!! It is ruination of the entire auto industry. It puts China in control of the worlds traspo and that is a nightmare. Just saying. Love Porsche cars and agree that a super cheep car made by the brand would cheapen it. Especially in the U S market.

electric cars only will never happen, .... you need one big nuclear plant to power them for every 1.5 million population city. a country like Germany UK or Italy will never ever have 50 plus nuclear reactors. and if they ever did, the cost to run your car would be a whole family of 5 household electricity bill, for commuting every 90 miles or 150 km. basically 250 pound's or 300 euro with today current average Kw/H prices. There isnt enough uranium in the world to run this kind of uthopia. The whole electric car bullshit is all about getting people to stop owning cars and instead rent whatever the governments and financial institutions will push down your throat instead... After that will have happened, they will forbid owning a house, and we will go back to feudal system....which by all means is already in act. if You want to have a good life in the future, become a politician with a good position in the euro parliament, where all the euro mafia resides.. Unfortunately they are brain washing people to confuse carbon monoxide with carbon dioxide, and not telling that 90% of the air we breathe is produced by our oceans and not by trees. if they really wanted to do something about climate change they they would have stopped china from practicing artificial climate change which has been going on for over a decade now. If even the whole eurozone canada and united states banned cars all together, there wouldnt be any change at all given that the other 5 billion people living on thsi planet dont give a crap about electric cars, electric cargo ships and electric cargo trucks. You really wanna stop pollution in cities,,, BAND BUYING ANYTHING ON THE INTERNET...so that we get rid of all delivery trucks and personnel, which consist of over 80% of traffic nowadays..

I think the more that unwanted EVs are shoved down our throats, the more valuable older and fun ICE cars will become. And if I'm wrong, there will be lots of cheap old Porsches around again for proper enthusiasts to enjoy.

Having both options is great. I daily drive a Rivian R1S, and it’s one of the best vehicles I’ve ever owned. Comfortable, quicker than most Porsches, and great tech. Combined with solar and cost of ownership including free electricity has been low. I have a manual 997.1 C2S and manual 992 base for the weekends

If one says that any purchase, like Porsche here, is too expensive…then that person most obviously does not have enough money. Few friends owning currently a Porsche are not happy about the high need of professional maintenance and service. I switched to Tesla Model S few years ago and will never look back. Instant power, great handling in high speeds on autobahn and minimal service needs just make the life much, much more fun.
