As far as I’m concerned you can sell all your cars and buy this one. Nothing new compares to the stunning beauty of the wide G-baby.

Mine is 55 years old and I pretty much daily it. 3.2 Carerra under the decklid, 915 gearbox, brakes & suspension upgraded. Have never enjoyed driving a car as much. You'll get one in your future too and not look back 😀

Such a lovely car and great video. In high school I lusted after a 3.2 Carrera or 993 Carrera S or Turbo. Nowadays I'm far more partial to the 996, but the 993 hasn't left my heart. These 3.2's have become more of a classic car for special occasions and rare gems that should be cherished.

Just sold my 911 3.2 Sport … actually think the slimmer version with whale tail spoiler arguably prettier …? Absolute joy to own, every trip an analogue pleasure, only ever as good as your last gear change! Loved it but yes, they are a commitment and with prices softening (discuss!) I’ve moved it on … I may of course regret it but very pleased I had the experience of owning one 🚗🏁🤗

I own a 911 3.2L from 1988, and actually I can confidently say it is a turn-key car. It's true to say it requires a proper maintenance and services, but the engineering is actually so simple and so reliable. Turn on the circuit-breaker, check the oil, and it will bring you at any time for trips from 10 miles to 1000 miles without trouble. Fantastic car.

Oh you’ve gone the opposite way. What made you change to the 997? They are tremendous fun (if you haven’t had one before) great choice 👍
@Rednospunk Жыл бұрын
@@alsatch_ I had to make my Porsche a daily driver so a 997 seemed more suitable. Plus, I was getting more and more anxious about my targa roof breaking and the difficulties to repair it (to find a specialist and $$$-wise). Been enjoying my 997 since and I love it so far... Even though I may miss the oil smell of my 993 sometimes.

Classic air cooled cars are “heart over head” cars. Personally I love them, and will always want one to compliment my water cooled cars. They make you feel very different. Much more of an experience ownership. Love your channel for several years BTW 👍

Sharp car! I've never seen red Fuchs wheels, and I actually lived in Germany during the 70's, so I saw many 911's and 914's. Personally, I actually like the red color, and I'm not one for flasy wheels, especially gold or bronze. I was impressed with just how quiet the car seemed inside while you were speaking.

Great to see this. I’m definitely older than you, and find it quite telling that the air-cooled 911s appeal even to someone like yourself, with the means and taste to have the 997 and newer Porsches. As you say, you can use all of the G-body 911’s performance on real roads, and though I’ve had to put some money into my 1993 964 the aesthetics and driving experience are more than worth it. These are perhaps the only classic sports cars that are still great to drive. I also fully agree on the size - the proportions are perfect.

Great video I have had all generations of 911 starting with 74 9112.7s all the way to 992 . I loved the older cars especially 993 and 997 . I’m a purist really during my experience the only thing I can’t get out of my head regardless of how good the car looks is RUST ! It’s hiding somewhere unless you go full restoration.

I think with this type of car, it is à different experience. Having done huge(and I mean really huge miles in one). Buy right and they go on forever. However be prepared for less comforts on long drives. Also depends what the long term goal is, will it be a show car, Sunday toy or an out an out road trip car. Mine is for euro road trips. That will be a big factor cause they don’t like short drives or driving at low revs for short distances as this affects the engines after time, I assure you this. It takes ages for the oil to go round the car and warm up enough to lubricate, cool the engines since they are oil cooled. So short low rev trips is detrimental long term to the engines.

You’re gonna do what you’ve got to do. But imo you will have regrets not owning a classic sooner rather than later. You can always repurchase a good 997. Your days with a 3.2 Carerra will never be regretted. Again imo. Ps. I’ve owned all the cars you have and drive a 3.2 with a side of 987.1 base. Cheers

G-bodies are great cars, but lacking of essential driver aids like power steering and ABS. For me the pinnacle Porsche is and always will be the 964. After 14 Porsches over the last 9 yrs, 11x 911, 1 Cayman, 1 Taycan and 1 Cayenne, I still own my first Porsche, a -90 C4 I’ve outlawed to my own taste and plan to keep forever. I hope to pass it on to my boys and that they’ll be able to put e-fuel into it when I’m long gone and they can remember their car nut dad with a big smile on their faces while they absolutely cane the crap out of the 300hp flat six❤
