DRIVERS EYE VIEW | From Llandudno junction to Llandudno

In this shorter cab ride video we go inside the cab of a class 175 from LLandudno junction to Llandudno !!.. Well the gopro did as only the driver is allowed in the cab !
My friend wishes to remain anonymous and asked me to blur out the clocks in the station.. this is why blur patches will pop up.

I remember as a kid we spent two weeks here. Me and my cousin were invited into the signal box every day! The signalman was Joe. I doubt he’s with us now but what an experience. It was quite busy then with holiday specials on Saturdays. Nostalgia ain’t what it was. Great video.😊

I once stayed at an AirBnB not far from the footbridge at 05:50...one of the best I've ever stayed at anywhere! Beautiful sweeping views across the estuary out of one window, the Great Orme out of another. There was the coastal walkway across the bridge and access to the river, and of course we had good views of trains heading in and out of Llandudno. Not much in variation of the types of trains used these days but can't complain. The Llandudno area for tourists is underrated, in my opinion, if you can find the right accommodations and get lucky with the weather! The area has got some amazing history (Conwy Castle and walking the walls around the town is terrific!), some wonderful short walks and day hikes, as well as the sheer natural beauty of the surrounding area. You may even find a sheep in your bedroom upon arrival! I definitely recommend taking the train from Llandudno to Blaenau Ffestiniog if you get the opportunity!

An interesting short journey. All-semaphore signalling on the branch and jointed track. Notable is the short-length sections ga-dunk ga-dunk ga-dunk instead of ga-dunk (pause) ga-dunk. Very nice.

Llandudno station is sadly a shadow of its former self, there was once up to 6 platforms and a canopy that extended almost the full length of the platforms. It was sadly neglected and had to be torn down due to safety concerns and now only has a short canopy. I am a resident of Llandudno whos Grandfather was once a Wheeltapper working at the station in the age of steam after he was demobbed out of the Army, when they stransitioned over to Diesel locos he then left the railway.

Used to ride this route albeit from Llandudno regularly from 1982 to 1984 when I was a redcoat at Butlins Grand Hotel. Every Saturday 6,45am from Llandudno to Llandudno Junction. 7,11am train to Euston to watch Arsenal. 😊

DGY, my local station. I sometimes wish they would replace the jointed track, on some days you can hear it on the entire length of travel from Conwy overbridge to Maesdu bridge. How the branch survived not being singled I don't know. I miss the London trains I could get almost from my front door. Still, trains to Liverpool are on the cards.

does avanti not stop there? if it does you can just hop on their train and it forms a 10 coach at chester to london

@@gwrydd No, they withdrew the 15:00 direct to London then under Virgin Trains, terminating the service at Bangor or Holyhead. Most journeys to EUS means a change at Llandudno Junction. And recently a further change at Crewe. At the next timetable change it should mean Junction to Euston becomes direct again.
