Drivers View of Lynton Railway

Travel around the entire length of the one foot gauge Lynton Little Railway from the front of Merlin , the railway's 0-4-2 steam loco and see what the driver sees .

A loop at the workshop end would allow continuous running.

We have looked at that , it is possible but the grades would be a bit steep , it's quite hilly where the railway is , thanks for the comment .

Excellent Tour! Glad to see you running on the bottom loop again... What is the stiffest grade coming up out of the bottom loop? Probably around 8:02 to 8:45 in the video? Now if you could just build a balloon turning loop between Wombat Jct and the engine facilities on the downhill side using embankments and trestlework to keep the grade manageable, you could have constant running on both loops. You'd just have to go into the engine terminal to get water...

A magnificent steam railway, a wonderfully very scenic tour! Thanks for including the track diagram sketch, it answered many of my questions. Obviously a lot of teamwork and a lot of love is showing on the LR!! You fellows are so well blessed! ;-)

No, I'm not the owner , but I do live nearby and go there every Friday along with several others who keep it running and I am very lucky to be part of the group .

They are all home made by the owner Ken except for Eudlo , it was made in New South Wales but still home made .

I don't think we will be building another locomotive soon but we are building a new carriage as our winter project and I will be filming its progress for a video when we finish , stay tuned .
