Tesla will bring down the reputation of Toyota!! I purchased a Model Y performance ( on-line ). This guy Austin called me and asked if I were desperate to get my Tesla ( WTF ) :>O I said no I'm not desperate! Austin called back a few days later and said he had a Model Y that fits my specs. I went to Fremont, California to pick up my Tesla on 03/29/2021. The car had multiple issues including dents, smudges on the taillights/black scuff marks on the back/paint on the back hatch that had formed tear drop bubbles from over spraying. I rejected the car and have not heard anything from anyone from Tesla after multiple attempts! Tesla has taken my 4500.00 deposit!!

Leasing is a major tax benefit to a business over purchase.
@timsellspittsburgh3 жыл бұрын
@@sdclams117 I'm learning this myself. I was weighing my options of leasing vs. buying and the tax implications involved. Every scenario points to leasing being a better option. Even if I drive over the 15k it's .25 cents a mile. I can write off that entire lease payment (100% of it). There are practically no restrictions for lease write-offs. That said, with a purchase there is a specific formula you have to follow and a certain way you have to depreciate the business asset. If you are not concerned from a business side of things, then purchasing probably makes more sense but when you own a business it's all about how you can save money on taxes and what you can write off.

Told him I wasn't sure if I needed to install a charger and told him I travel about 20 miles daily. He said he didn't think I would need one and plugging in with the cables it came with to a wall socket while home would be sufficient enough to not need it for a daily commute. I think it's going to be a long time, if ever, before I will be in the market for a Tesla. I am a person of moderate means and income. Also I drive a lot and for long distances. To my mind a Toyota Prius is a much better buy for the money. Of course, tech does tend to come down in price with the passage of time. And as Tesla gets more competition and the range and other aspects of EV vehicles improve, I would expect that ten years from now it will be possible to pick up an EV with a range of $400+ miles and a quick recharge time for under $45k. But until we reach that point, I am not really interested.

Good info. Some fees are fair and are actually understandable and connected to something in the real world, while others are just pure profit dressed up with a fancy, official-sounding words, such as an "acquisition" or "disposition" fee on leases these days. The last time I leased a car (early 2000s) those fees did not exist or were rare enough that I never encountered them in my shopping around back then, but I looked into leasing a new vehicle in 2019 and somewhere along the way those profit grab fees had crept in. For me, they were lease killers. No deal. They're not only a back door way of sneaking profit into the deal rather than stating it up front as part of the original price, it's a way of trying to control the customer's future behavior. The way the "disposition fee" was set up on the vehicles I was looking at leasing in 2019, the fee was waived (or refunded) on turn-in at the end of the lease if you re-leased or purchased a new vehicle from that same company. If you don't want to do that, they in essence "fine" you by imposing the disposition fee. No thanks. I read a lot of reviews written by people who were "shocked" by getting hit with the so-called disposition fee when they turned on their vehicle at the end of the lease because they didn't want to re-lease or buy another vehicle from the same company, but it was there in their lease contract all along. They either didn't bother reading it, thought they could get out of it, wasn't a big deal at the time because the turn-in was years down the road, etc. It looks like Tesla is they're making you pay the disposition fee up front at the beginning of the lease, I guess to avoid the drama with "shocked" customers when turn-in time rolls around. I have also read many complaints about how some companies are much pickier about dings, scratches, wear, etc on a lease turn-in vehicle and imposing fine-print "excess wear and tear" fees if you choose to walk away without buying/leasing another vehicle from them, once again as a way of pressuring the customer into another lease or purchase, and imposing fine-print fees (fines) if they don't. Bottom line, be aware of all of those fees, what they mean, and the loopholes that can work against you. Make sure you read and understand the fine print and don't get so excited and in a hurry about buying (leasing) something new that you set yourself up for some expensive, nasty surprises at turn-in time a few years down the road. I decided to skip all of those fine-print "gotcha" games in 2019 and instead paid cash for a clean, low mileage pre-owned vehicle, which is worth more now than when I bought it.
