Hammond sold his to pay for the Smallest Cog, May has done several on his collection on Drivetribe, Clarkson isn't really a collector. He has some sort of fast Mercedes, a Range Rover, the MFB Continental from the Madagascar trip and The Excellent (the Mercedes 280 body on a Land Rover chassis).

I like this kind of video, cool idea. But I'd like to see a drivability aspect to the Cog score, just put Richard and Mike in the car with a gopro or two, and go around the town for 30 mins, find a nice route and cruise the car, find out if it has transmission/shift issues, brakes, Aircon is applicable, how the suspension is set up, takeoff, etc

Yep, headlight is the easiest thing to fix here. Somehow that Supra being a bit scuffed at gives certain character that it wasn't been babied and looks used alot, raced. But yeah would be nice to steel bring back the shine.

Thing that most shocked me about that Supra was when he put it on the dyno and how few horses it had lost in 28 years. Honestly, I couldn't think of a car I'd seen drop fewer for that age of car even taking into account it's fairly low mileage.

I got a single stone chip on my Mondeo bonnet years ago. Within 6 months the lacquer blistered and peeled from the ENTIRE bonnet, looking like that Supras roof.

My supra had basically the same bodywork issues as this when I got it. Sun damage to the wing, rust on the rear corner of the hatch window and at the top of the hatch, no paint on the mirrors, UV damaged headlights etc. You wouldn't believe it but it was even keyed down the passenger side as well! It's recently had a full respray with the minor rust being repaired and I put some Euro spec glass headlights in. It was a lot of work (and a lot of money) but it looks a million times better now.

Love this format. I had a MK 3 Supra, non-Turbo. It had MK IV wheels though, which was odd. I loved that car. Sold it way too cheap. This Supra is the perfect project car. Can't wait to see what happens with it. They are balanced so well 50/50 split.

The 2JZ-GE engine in the non-turbo Supra is not the same as the 2JZ-GTE engine in the turbo Supra. This engine had better pistons, rods, and bearings as well as the two turbos. They also did not come stock with the wing. I owned a 1997 Twin Turbo for 11 years. A wonderful car.

Rods and bearings were identical, pistons weren't better just lower compression in the GTE. Many people make over 700hp on factory GE engines. The GE VVT-i engine is the weak one, but obviously easily upgradable. I have a 750hp one in my MK3 👍

I promise the yellowing on the supra headlights for a Series 1 is on the inside. A buff wont fix it, it's a sealed unit and your almost always better off just getting new headlights from Toyota or getting custom lenses. 11:55 it's exhaust temp sensor, not required doesn't run to the ECU and only lights up a dash light. 13:13 Looks like a A series diff for a non turbo, also the missing diff bush on the right side there is normal for factory non turbo cars, turbos come with both. They should be replaced and second installed with new polyurethane units. 12:09 That's a w58 5 speed gearbox. They are pure glass and anything over 350-400hp you are on borrowed time with them. The V160/161 6 speeds are much stronger. 31:24 I promise this has not got 53tho miles. The series 1 odometer is super easy to swap out.

Definitely needs to be driven as part of the 'scoring'. The Mk4 Supra is certainly a cool car and one that is well used, more so. But this at the moment looks like one that's just been neglected. That's quite different. It's begging for a lot of tidying and of course at least one Turbo!! the 2JZ in NA form is pretty limp. (Another engine I've had in a car).
