Hey Tyler, I just picked up my new 2022 Ram TRX on 9/7/22. Nice to be a member of an elite club. OK, now for the bad news...you wasted a whole week in pain mode. I could have told you beforehand you weren't going to save a drop of fuel putting the TRX in valet mode. Let me tell you and everyone else the reality of owning a TRX. You (and I) bought a 90K truck that gets sucky fuel economy. There's no way around it. If you drive it easy (meaning not doing rabbit starts and high speeds), you're gonna get the optimal 10mpg and 14mpg. That is it. The trick to owning these TRX's is not trying to get better fuel economy but saving at the pump. If you pay LESS for fuel, then it's the same as increasing the MPG. I use the following: 1) Upside. Great app. Saves me a ton of money at the pump, although it will not save you on 93, only on 87. So if you have any 87 octane vehicles, you can use Upside. I don't know why Upside doesn't offer discounts on 93. I hope this will change at some point. 2) Sam's Club (if there's one near you). I use SC and right now am paying about 3.29/gal for 93. Not bad when others are paying that and more for 87 when they use mainstream gas stations. SC requires a membership but I save much, much more over the $45 a year I pay for membership. 3) Gas Buddy. This will tell you where the least expensive fuel is and many times it has saved me 10-30 cents a gallon on average just by knowing which stations offer the lowest price per gallon. 4) Check your credit cards. I have at least 5 different cards that offer 5% off gas for a 3-month period. When the 3-month period ends, I switch to another card and continue earning 5%. I simply use the total amount I saved after 3 months and it usually covers 1-2 fill ups on my card. At Sam's Club, i'm getting 93 at 50 cents a gallon less than everyone else plus the 5% on the credit card for the total fill up. NOT FREEKIN' BAD. 5) You can start a go fund me account and cry to people that your TRX gets terrible gas mileage and ask them to donate. Maybe make your goal a year's worth of gas at a time. Who knows, maybe some people will pity you and actually donate. Hey, it could happen. Finally, you can simply purchase a gas station and enjoy gas for your TRX at whatever price you pay the oil company. Can't afford to buy a gas station? See 1-4 above then and still enjoy saving a decent amount. I know, I left out 5, because it's absurd. Who the heck is gonna do that, except some psychopath.

I ran my 19 Scat pack Charger in eco all the time. It didn't noticeably save me $$, but it did make the exhaust more aggressive at lower speeds. My 21 6 speed SP Challenger, no option since it's transmission setting in eco. Not looking forward to my upcoming 22 TRX fuel economy. Oh well.

My guess is when in valet mode on the highway it’s probably using more gas because the tranny is shifting too much and not staying in 8th gear for fuel efficiency.

Hmmm, this is really interesting, I have an idea, Put the truck in valet mode and take it to the drag strip , make a pass. Then try to make it faster by weight reduction mods, like lighter wheels, remove seats etc ( all reversible to oem condition) put on slicks on the wheels as well . See how much faster the. Car is in valet mode now and finally make a pass with full power but all the weight reduction mods. This is a video idea I have but , I don't know what title will attract a lot of people to watch it

🤗 That's pretty bad mpg. My 2022.3500 6.4 hemi with 35 in Toyo Open country AT3 tires driving 600 miles round trip at 65 to 75 mph on the highway locked in four wheel drive high, due to snowy and icy roads , 300 miles each way got 11.8 MPG. When I am driving around town with my snow plow and plowing snow I get about 8.5 MPG. 🤗 And I have 373 gears and no rear locker. And I got stuck behind a convoy of snow plow units for about 20 mi going 15 mph. At one time it showed 13 miles mpg before I hit that convoy. During the summer with the factory tires driving that same run in two-wheel drive I got 18 MPG. I've been watching KZbin videos for lockers for my truck. It already doesn't get stuck lol but it's still tight from the factory eventually it will loosen up and lockers will make it unstoppable. And after putting the 35 inch tires on it going about 73-75 miles per hour it shifts into 8th gear and idles at about 1750 RPMs a little bit lower than it did with the factory tires. I actually had problems with Costco higher octane gas once winter came, it wasn't a problem in the summer, but when it got below freezing the Costco gas would make my truck sputter when it started up and throw engine codes, once it warmed up it ran fine, only on the cold start up it would barely run. The Mopar garage said it was common with the hemi engines they said it had too much alcohol in the fuel. I tried mixing 91 non-ethanol gas half and half with the Costco high octane fuel and it still was a problem. I have a couple of Chevrolet larger engine trucks one with a 454 and one with a 8.1 big block that I use for plow trucks and they have never had a problem with the Costco fuel. Like I said I didn't have a problem in the summer with the Costco fuel but once it got below freezing somehow the computer senses there's something wrong with the fuel?
@TylerPotter2 жыл бұрын
That is very interesting I haven't had any trucks in with that fuel concern? That's a weird one! That is also pretty good MPG with the 35's and the 6.4! Thanks for the view!

The only way to get even decent fuel economy is to throw it on cruise control whenever you have the chance. I've had one for about a month now and was getting about 8.8mpg. Started turning cruise control on when going down the road now getting about 9.7mpg. Not crazy great but significant difference.
