Lotta folks are already right about it being built as a non pressurized cooling system. Ditch the rubber washer on the bottom spring plate of the radiator cap and run the overflow tube into a tank with either a bottom fill tube or with the tube going into the bottom of the tank thru the top. If you pull the cylinder head again reuse the copper head gasket and anneal the gasket using either a propane or acetylene torch. After the gasket is cooled spray it with copper coat from the auto supply. If it still gets plugs wet afterwards it’s either a crack in one of the bores or the deck of the block. The deck can be stitched together using the lock and stitch method or as a last resort brazed up. Been a few years but I’ve had good luck acetylene welding cracks using old cast iron piston rings although it does take some practice. Before then I stick welded everything cast iron using high nickel rods. Either of those involved preheating the part to around 300* slowly then cooling slowly overnight by submersing the part in kitty litter that I’d prewarmed in the oven. If it’s one of the bores cracked, having the block sleeved is the only good fix. Can’t remember if it’s Crower or Iskendarian but one of those older companies sells an o-ringing tool you can use if it turns out your deck has a crack in it. Competition Products used to sell them as a kit that cuts the o-ring grooves around the cylinder outside diameter and also a receiver groove into the cylinder head. After the grooves are cut you’ll tap in the o-ring wire into the block side and use a copper head gasket with copper coat applied to it. Blower motor guys have used o-ringed setups to seal compression for decades and Detroit diesels have used it for years before that. Good luck with your fix, no matter how you go after it.

I believe your problem is the pressurized radiator system. I don't remember what years of Fords used the older non-pressurized system, but that motor combo might not be built to handle it.

As other comments have said it is not a pressurize system. I would just modify the cap so it can vent to atmosphere. Make sure you run a coolant overflow. That being said you’ve probably blown the head gasket and need a new one anyways. If you’re looking for some stupid stuff to do, I would try some head gasket in a can I’ve actually had really good luck with it.

With a small motor and head like that you can use a table saw top as a surface to resurface the head and motor you just use spray adhesive and put sandpaper and wet sand the surface of the head and motor or you can use a large thick sheet of glass also from like a glass table top. Just let the weight of it do the work don't push down just move it back and forth

Take the rubber off the bottom of the radiator cap so it can't build pressure and maybe some blue devil. If not your back to pulling the head, do the head bolts go into the water jacket? Maybe it's leaking from that?

Well you could always just hold off on it till you get a 1st Gen. S10. Just shorten the frame a little. If not looking to make it a hot rod, just use the 4 cylinder engine in it or V6 that came in them. Would give a little truck to put around town in.

Silly thought, if the engine is bad, do a "performance" upgrade with a 226ci or 254 flathead six cylinder, or maybe a later (52-64) 223ci ohv six.

@essentialjudge2279
@essentialjudge2279 5 ай бұрын
@caseyscustoms2 I couldn't find any video on one, but if you Google original model a radiator, you will see some and the tube. The tube is an open hole from inside the radiator to the outside. Therefore, it can never build pressure. If you loosen the cap or drill a hole it it will blow the water back at you like you said.
