Used to own a very late model LSE 4.2 V8. Best car I ever had - by far. Cost me a bloody fortune, but it was worth every penny 😁😊😊 Miss it like crazy. Replaced the air suspension with progressive springs and rally shocks with a 5cm lift. Stuck track wideners on it too. Was amazing off-road. Word of warning though: buy with your heart and not with your head, or you'll spend every waking moment regretting it 🤣🤣🤣 Had to wave it goodbye when my wife decided to open the roof up like a tin of sardines on the ceiling of an underground car park. Broke my heart.

Loved my old classic, had it for about 2 years, it cost me $7000 in repairs, but it was bloody brilliant and made you feel special every time you drove it. I miss it every day but as a young person not making big money i just couldn't afford to keep it going. One day i'll buy another. Oh and i just wanted to say, while parts and servicing we're expensive, and i put money into i didn't need too, the car never ever broke down once in 2 years of regular driving, until the gearbox let go on the motoway which was the end of it. Also 100% you are wrong about the turning circle, they have an amazing turning circle. Not sure about the air suspension models but the coil sprung ones can turn bloody tight and with adjustable steering stops fitted as started, with a slight suspension lift you can give yourself even more lock with standard tyres.

G'day Jay Emm. I bought one of these in 2014 which was a basket case! I'm an ex-Essex boy living in NZ and flew from one end of the country to the other to collect it and drive it back upto the North Island! Cut a long story short it started loosing oil at a rapid rate and I had to leave at Christchurch airport and flew home! Luckily the guy I bought from had connections in the car transporter biz and we split the cost to get back to where I lived. I had the intention of restoring it but one day I went to a nearby country park and reversed between two trees when another jumped out between them and smashed the rear bumper, tailgate and broke the rear hatch window! Consequently I put on a NZ auction site and sold it for what I paid for it to a Rangie enthusiast who had already had restored a Vogue SE in white and wanted one in black! Lucky me!

I was initially given one of these while working for a humanitarian organization in a third world country. I very much liked it but only because I didn’t have to service it myself as it belonged to the company’s fleet. The hydraulics kept breaking down and after the third time I was given a Toyota Landcruiser 100 for security reasons. Not as appealing by any means but definitely much higher build quality and frankly just as good as far as the off-roading was concerned. Strangely enough, I still missed the Range Rover though... Nice video!

Great Vid. Had TWO of the the V8 petrol`s and a P38 series. Terrible cars for reliability and rust magnets.Collapsed sub frames turned them into potential death traps not to forget the inherent engine issues. I worked for an engine reconditioning business and the owner had there Range Rovers`s at the same time of varying ages. One of the newer ones was involved in a product recall for its engine except Range Rover called it 'A free customer loyalty performance up grade' I also had a Wrangler 4.2ltr CJ7with removable doors, soft top and a fold down front wind screen. That was a beast. They were all like expensive mistresses. Attention seeking money black holes but enjoyable rides.

I owned exactly this age and model with the air suspension. The most comfortable go anywhere car I’ve owned. An armchair that could take you anywhere. Converted to LPG (with underslung tanks under the sills) it was ‘almost’ affordable to run! Any that are for sale now will have undoubtedly been restored and had the rust etc sorted so could actually make a good buy so long as you can afford the fuel (14mpg!) or convert to LPG as I did and I think the looks have aged well 👍
@risengabaloyi8126
@risengabaloyi8126 11 ай бұрын
Hi Reinman. If you don't mind me asking, what were the pros and cons of such a conversion?
@reinmansmith
@reinmansmith 11 ай бұрын
@@risengabaloyi8126 no cons at all in terms of runnning. The engine would start on petrol (it retained a small 6 gallon tank in the rear wing) and then as soon as you used the throttle it switched automatically over to LPG and just drove normally. There was a small electrical switch on the dash where you could switch back to petrol if needed, ie running out of lpg. That was the only drawback, the lack of lpg filling stations which you would have to seek out if on a long journey. The only thing I would say is to get the conversion done by an expert. There are plenty of ‘back street’ converters who will chuck a donut gas tank in the boot and won’t set the whole system up properly. Pay for it to be done correctly (the tanks underslung out of the way give you bigger capacity and range) and you’ll have no issues 👍

Friend lent me his 84 Range Rover to go to Scotland (about 500miles away) drive up was great and was fine all week, drive back was scariest of my life as we drove back at night and the lights would randomly decide to switch off and not come back on for a few miles luckily it didn't start doing this until we were on the motorway probably because we had planned to be on the motorway at dusk around 100miles into our journey so hadn't used the light until then.

The Classic is more use than the Defender or the Disco & has more inside space than the Defender. Loads can be carried on the roof with roof bars or poking out of the tail gate. Uprating the suspension ruins the ride keep it as LR made it. Fuel is 17.5 mpg but parts are cheap so DIY & save £'s. Always wash winter salt away as body repairs are time consuming. We have 1 Defender 110 3 Disco's & 3 Classics...

For Closing DO NOT SLAM, Finger pressure Firmly on the Lower Frame at each corner is enough. OLD Range Rovers are QUIRKY Vehicles. Sounds like a good idea so long as he doesn't get a first edition flat floor model, I'm 6 feet tall and have driven one, not comfortable for long legs hence the reason that Jaguar altered the design on later cars.

"it drives like a Defender" because the the RRC chassis, axles etc. were used for the Defender. It is identical except from some little details. I drive a crusty '86 with 2.4 VM Diesel (now fitted with a '74 V8) and I love it! And I have another two "under (re-)construction".

330d f31.......mapped along with a gearbox flash....it’ll take most of your feature cars on ......and is simply summarised as being an out and out sports car destroyer (on a budget) that will return 600 miles on a tank when driven like granny Smithers....or just 35mpg when trying to drive like mcray
