thanks for the drive down my street and view of our family home on the West side!

I lived in the Triple Cities and worked in Binghamton. Sadly it’s just another old, run down and depressing northeastern city. It’s best seen in your rear view mirror as you move on to better places. I did.

Man oh man… I lived here from 91 to 93 and again 2000 to 2002… it’s so sad to see the decline. Nice folks live here. Hard to imagine that The Giant, Crowley, IBM, Oakdale Mall, Niko’s, Number 5 among others are all gone… Glad to hear Cortese and Nirchi’s are still around.

I like the music. What’s the name of the song and artist if you know?

Most of this I still remember. I left the area in 1998 and seldom got back to see it since the early 2000s. Very little has changed. It is a far cry from the 1950 when the area was a booming city and traffic was bumper to bumper.

Same here. I left Binghamton, Johnson City, Vestal etc. areas in 1997 and never got back to see how things have changed. I still remember the most of the area and lots of snow.

A really cool ride down memory lane... passed a house I lived in, in the late '60s. Yes, you young'uns, that's the 1960s.

I am originally from Binghamton. I noticed that tore down the Sheraton Hotel. What are they putting up in its place?

An apartment, …and they just finished it

@@AnimatingStudios2002 Thanks for replying. When I was small there was an elegant estate of yellow brick in its place with a statue of a reindeer that I was told was being moved to Roberson, I wonder if it is still there.

Ah, it wouldn't be a real drive through downtown Binghamton without a jay-walker on Court Street

That's the truth. Why in the world would anyone get off at the Rt. 17 Front Street Exit though. It's the shittiest part of town. The "beautiful" first ward district.

@Emmanuele Spataro IBM's gone. EJ's gone. Lockheed's gone. Singer Link's gone. NYSEG is gone. The largest employer is SUNY. The Twin Tiers population has decreased significantly since 1990, and its gotten worse. Depressing because its a great region of NY & PA to raise a family, but there are few opportunities to make a decent living. Having lived there, it absolutely breaks my heart to see it so desolate. Its becoming a Franklin/Oil City, PA.
