Lets take a more closer look..,pot holes everywhere..and a lot of abandoned buildings that truly need to come down...and yes this is my home town..that I do luv..but needs revamping. And it has potential..I'm happy that hopefully soon Spitzer Hotel will reopen...then maybe downtown can add some businesses..and that up and going again.The potential is there.

Seriously. I'm from Elyria and drove through downtown the other day. It has phenomenal potential as a beautiful bustling city on the lake. I picture restaurants with tables outside on the sidewalk, hotels, a totally commercialized town that people actually want to spend time in and visit. Just look at Lakeview.

@joshua.snyder2 жыл бұрын
@@lou_sassole 😆 I get it. I loved my childhood in Lorain in the 80's, to put a better point on it. Once Ford, Steel and other key industries left a lot broke down in Lorain. Good place to be in those days anyway.
@johns43845 жыл бұрын
I left in 83 for the US Army, because U S Steel wasn't what it used to be. The start of the rapid decline of a once pretty busy town. Also worked at Bill's Auto Body on 28th Street. It is so sad to see my old home town in this poor state. Somehow, I doubt it will ever be revived. Also saw a video here on you tube showing the demolition of Southview HS. Who still lives here anyway?

My grandmother lived at 7th Street and Hamilton Ave in Lorain but we lived in Avon Lake. I remember playing in Founders Park between 6th and 7th Streets. The Lorain High School, (right across the Hamilton Ave from grandmothers house) Band used to march down 7th Street to practice. My grandmother bought her milk from the Lorain Creamery (of course) and I can remember when the delivery "vehicle" was pulled by a horse. I believe it was local genre for those local to the area. They had a milk truck in Avon Lake.
