Driving Complex Multiaxis Motion Using Simple Geometry

This is the type of instruction I have been wanting to see for YEARS. I have been a Mastercam user since version 3, and as more complex tool paths have been developed the help menus only gave a definition of the parameters and not a real life example as to how and why to use it. I loved this example. I did the impeller that you demonstrated in this video. It took me 20 or 30 tries over a period of two weeks to get it almost perfect. I just kept experimenting with the different paths and settings. In the end, I didn’t learn much because what ended up working came about by accident and not intent (if that makes sense). We need more webinars, and videos that break things down using real life examples and explanations like this video. I never knew what the “Restrict Path” icon was used for before today. Thank you

I love the way this engineer explained it is very clear to understand. Yeah 5th axis is all about tool control motion, who understand tiling tools and collision control so we are ok

Nice presentation! One question, on the impeller why did you selected the second collision strategy box and not the first one? Thanks.

If we look at the default setup of Collision Control strategies when we first open a multiaxis toolpath, the second strategy is always a Tilt strategy with shank, shoulder, and holder already selected. This means that in this instance, we can save time by just turning on Strategy 2 and starting right in on adding surfaces. Rather than having to modify strategy 1, we can simply leave it off!

I have been using for 5 years now, at work, but don’t really get into multiaxis. I am looking to practice at home. For those of you currently using what laptop would you suggest, or simply just have good experience with, that would be powerful enough to run these toolpaths and back plot without load for half an hour? then Can roughing be done by adding depth to the morph?

Hi there! Roughing can be added in several ways to morph, either with depth cuts or multi passes, both with user-specified spacing. And Morph is stock-aware, so it can trim all roughing passes to stock-only automatically if you give it a stock model!
