"straightness" - or your description of the traveling evenly on a track, is also true for riding dressage. this is why so many people mix up bend and straightness. Why lateral bending at the neck does not help a horse travel correctly - lateral bending should be throughout the trunk of the horse. Again - made more difficult between shafts, however, if fit correctly, the horse can travel correctly. Im taking an 18 year old saddle horse - who is amazing, and beginning driving - so far, preliminary work is going well. Seeing this is delightfully educational, and helps me set goals.

I’m a dressage rider but I thought it would be interesting and helpful to look at dressage movements through a different discipline

I subscribed. This video is exactly what I was looking for. I'm a retired harness horse race driver, been driving horses since I was 8 yrs old. I currently have a pretty little 4 yr old stb mare retired from racing because she wasn't very fast. She is a pacer, but prefers to trot and has a beautiful balanced trot. I have ridden some lower level western dressage with my riding horse, now want to do driven dressage as I'm more comfortable driving than riding. I was wondering about driving the corners and turns, as how you stated, more room is needed than when riding. This video was perfect explanation. I live about an hour from Ocala. Please advertise if you are ever going to be in this area. I would love to attend a clinic.

So if we drive our tests, as you describe, we won't get any comments on our tests that we need to go deeper into the corners??
