He lived in a double wide trailer most of his career. He's the definition of humble. While he didn't accomplish anything close to what his father did, he's actually done more for the sport. He uses his popularity to continue to try to grow the sport. His podcast is amazing for the history that most fans aren't aware of. And let's not forget who he's brought into the sport, truex, chase, Bowman and more

I had the chance many years ago to have a few Budweiser’s w him at a Daytona watering hole. I wanna say Rascals but I may be wrong. Absolutely humble and genuine. He signed a $20 bill for me before I left. Because that’s all I had on me to sign. He asked me twice if I was sure I wanted to do that, “because $20s don’t come easy”. Yes, down to earth!

His dad kept him to the side to become his own man in racing because he knew that the NASCAR fans and drivers were gonna say that he was given what he got. He did it himself and made his own lane. The professionalism and respect they give every guest is top notch. They're not reading off a script, the genuinely do their research and ask honest questions. My mother was the lead automotive sales representative for Dupont when they were with Jeff Gordon. Being a young African American male at the races back in the late 90s early 2000's to playing college football, I see myself in everyone of them. All I can say is thank you for changing the game.....

I saw this before bed and the video is over an hour. I was like, maybe later. I started and didn't stop. I could have cared less about sleep. Hearing men being men. Talking, joking, laughing and being human. Who am I to judge? Being a former Army Sergeant, my favorite thing was talking to my troops. No rank, just troops being themselves. This right here, is valuable to the human race. This is exactly how it was on deployment. And these are superstars. It shows there are no bounds. Just bonds. Brothers and sisters.

This is by far my favorite episode, I’m a huge NASCAR FAN!!! As a black little girl I know it’s unheard of to like NASCAR. My father is a huge fan and I got into the sport. Richard Petty was the g.o.a.t. In my daddy’s time. But Earnhardt Sr. Was my g.o.a.t. Love Jr also. Him telling the story of his father’s dead brought back all the sadness. I remember watching I asked my dad is he going to get out of the car. Daddy said he’s had a lot of bad accidents but this one is different. EPIC EPISODE

Those of us who were old enough to truly understand what happened at that moment could know something didn't feel right. Like your dad said, I saw a lot of bad wrecks over the years in NASCAR. I knew that Earnhardt's career was over when he crashed that day. I watched with everyone else as we waited for them to get Dale out of the car and onto a stretcher. When he didn't get out on his own and they surrounded his car, I knew racing lost a legend. As a huge Intimidator fan growing up, I just sat there silently with tears in my eyes.

Definitely go to a race. Im from Virginia. Been to Bristol, Martinsville, and Richmond. All were awesome. I like watching the bigger tracks on TV, and I'd like to see one in person one day, but the short tracks is where its at in my opinion.

I'm not a NASCAR guy, however I am very familiar with the Earnhardt name and so I didn't know what to expect in this episode, but I have to say this is by FAR the BEST EPISODE of I AM ATHLETE EVER!!! Thank you Brandon for sharing this to the world, WE AS A PEOPLE needed to see and hear this to continue to move forward breaking down the STEREOTYPING and PROFILING of each other's Culture! MaaaaN.... I completely lost it when Brandon was reading JR's quote after Senior's passing! bruh... I am a Kyle Busch fan but here are 3 reasons why Dale Earnhardt Jr. is the best interview in all sports. 1. He is very intelligent. 2-He has a great memory and 3- He always answers the questions as honestly and directly as he can. That is rare.

as a huge dale SR fan as a kid it makes me cry thinking about the crash and everything my ear doctor die the following Monday in the same exact way, heading home after work got clipped in the rear by a drunk and put into a wall on the side of the interstate and died. i can only Imagine what its like for Jr to talk or think about his dad

I almost had forgotten that Dale Jr. came back to Daytona and won the very next race after his dad died, AND his teammates finished 2nd and 3rd. One of the better stories in the history of sports.

Actually it was just Mikey in 2nd. Elliott Sadler was 3rd and he was driving for the Wood Brothers. Steve Park, Jr’s other teammate, finished 20th. But the fact that it was Jr and Mikey, a reverse of the 500 earlier in the year, was absolutely amazing and one of the most iconic moments of the sport.

Later in the hauler he was getting changed with his dad and expected his dad to congratulate him the next thing he knew he had a shoe smoke him in the side of the head then dale stormed out of the hauler leaving jr behind. And that's honestly a tame story about Sr and Jr's relationship. Sr was a terrible father just ask Kerry or read Kelly's book

Been to a bunch a races had that havolibe remote control nascar as a kid growing up in the 90s. Glad to see this episode. Never forget the time I went to homestead race track for the first time

Similar man. I've always been into racing. I remember reading old F1 history books in my library back when I was in kindergarten. I'm more of a open wheel/circuit racing fan but I respect all forms of motorsports. Being from Bama where mostly everything is college football, I couldn't relate with most lol. But honestly, even just go-kart racing will show you how physical racing actually is. I remember my first time doing it, my core and arms were sore and hands cramping. I've always thought racers were athletes.

@@warren010h I took my wife karting (adult Karts) a few weekends ago and she was racing her ass off, but sore for 3 days afterwards. Back, neck, outsides of thighs (holding your body in place during the turns). She was like 'Damn! That was intense!' I told her, "That was a 10 minute race, imagine 2-4 hours (F1 is 2 hours max, stock car can be 4 or more)". She was like, "No thank you". Haha.

Legend and so was his pops, I was a child when Dale Earnheart Sr. Passed I still remember that. RIP , great to see in a closer view of how a great a man Earnheart Jr is. 🙏😊

Never seen or heard a bad Dale interview. His interviews on The DP Show are some of the best. I really enjoyed this episode. My favorite thing about Monday is a new IAA episode

This was awesome, being young, black, and into cars, I have always wanted a conversation like this. A mash up between what I was expected to like and what I actually like. I truly enjoyed this episode and commend the guys for such a great, natural, conversation. Keep it up🙏🏾

I loved it! I never watch 1+ hour interviews like I did with this one. It was just 5 dudes, who are all high performing and understand how the mind works in those pressure situations, that gained respect for one another while talking about life and performance in general. This was one of the best episodes by far. Pretty cool and I think they should definitely keep this type of content up.

As a NASCAR fan (not a Dale Jr or Dale Sr fan and not knowing anybody else on this podcast), I have seen more than just a few podcasts with Dale Jr and THIS is the most I can see jr truly come out of his shell being such a shy guy. He needs to hang out with y’all off camera. We love us some Dale Jr but we also know that his shyness likely came from how hard he truly had it before the spotlight and even some in the spotlight. Jr you did a damn good job man!!!! So glad to see you vibin with the homies my guy!!!
