Driving From Carlow Town to Athy in County Kildare

I live in Carlow. Years ago I used to often walk to Athy along the Barrow Track. It used to take over three hours. The museum in Athy town is interesting. They used to have (or maybe still have) an Arrol Johnson Motor Car from 1902, with an exterior made mainly of wood.

I love these drives. Ireland's landscapes are incredibly beautiful. I always imagine living there today's modern Ireland, but also the Ireland of 300 years ago. I've never visited Ireland but plan to soon. The picturesque towns and villages look so quiet and peaceful where life appears slow, relaxed and safe. We drove this route a few weeks ago when we visited my parents- Dublin to Carlow,onto Athy and through Newtown to Kilkenny. It was a great week away.
