A 5.7 wouldn't get any better mileage than that pulling a loaded trailer. Considering your setup , the mileage isn't bad.

10.4 isn’t bad at all. I get about 7 towing with my 6.4 Hemi 3500.

It all depends how many hills you're climbing and the speed you're traveling etc. Sometimes having more power can help with mpg because you don't have to struggle as much to get going so you can stay lighter on the throttle using less fuel. Gearing comes into play too. I don't think that would be too bad towing a decent load (10.4)

I get about 10 with an 18ft long open landscape trailer with a ramp gate covered with expanded steel, tandem axle. 2,250lbs empty.

Only thing wrong that a lot of ppl don’t know but tow chains are supposed to be crossed. So that way if a hitch disconnect occurs the chains can cradle the hitch tongue. Some super Troopers will give you shit over that and give you a ticket. I didn’t know that until I had to learn to haul double trailers as a cdl holder as the back trailer is connected to a converter dolly that connects to a pintle hook which also has chains as a secondary. then I learned that it applies across the board to any vehicle towing a trailer on a hitch or pintle hook.

I drive an F-450 with a trailer to haul tires. And whenever someone else disconnects the trailer and hooks it back I have to double check if the chains are crossed. I always have to fix them.

Very cool! Glad to see you got there safely to Moparty, that trailer hitch issue was pretty spooky to say the least, but you got it resolved nicely, glad to see the whole rig drove/towed well. My '94 big block K2500 Suburban gets the same mileage so don't feel bad! Thanks for a cool video, and great fix job on the PS pump in the Hellkota! Safe travels on return run!

It wasn’t that the bolts were cheap metal but they where the only thing holding that trailer on the truck while you where smashing on it 😂. Keep up the good work man! God bless you you are living the dream.

I know where a 71 duster is has 72 front end upgrade " disc brakes" needs new floor pans under driver and passenger floor . Body is straight and has original slant 6 that still ran a couple years ago. I'm sure you would toss the engine because with the front end swap not like it's a numbers matching car anymore. Guy wanted$5k last time I saw him.

I had the same exact thing happen to my ram 1500 hitch. The bolt that goes thru the bumper came loose and my hitch bent just like yours… luckily i had gotten the warranty for the hitch when it was installed dealer covered it and all is well now. I’d say to check the bolt on the bumper every time you tow lol also get some grade 8 bolts for the part the bolts to the frame.

That’s crazy about the hitch, but that’s how they do it nowadays. My 2016 sport was the same way as far as mounting the class 4 receiver hitch, which I had the dealer do as part of the agreement to buy it brand spanking new. It is a little goofy seeing a huge bolt go down through the bumper but it’s all in the design. I can’t remember if that was new in 2016, I have the book on the 1500 and the structural frame connector tube is integrated behind the bumper so it’s safer and stronger to tow how you ended up doing it. The smaller carriage bolts just hold it in place, it must have been installed incorrectly before you got it.

That mpg is probably about normal for towing at about 10 to 11 mpgs you will obviously get significantly better mileage once you don’t have the trailer behind you

Your missing the 2 bolts that are under the bumper on the side of the receiver. Get under bumper an you will see were the 2 bolts go in. As always thanks for the content.

I tow a 22ft travel trailer with a Durango hellcat and I actually get better gas mileage towing than just driving around in the city with no trailer! I see between 10-12 mpg towing.

Unfortunately, 10 mpg is about what you should expect from a gas V8 pulling loaded car trailer. That's about what I get in my Ram 1500 5.7, you're not doing too bad.

Depends on where the wheels on the trailer are. If theyre in the middle then itd make it worst since all the weight would be on the back side with very low on the hitch. But if the wheels are towards the back then yeah itd put more weight on the trailer vs the hitch

You never want more weight behind the axle than infront of the axle on a trailer it will cause it to sway and is how a lot of accidents are caused
