Driving Home A 1988 Case 580 E Extenda-Hoe Backhoe. WILL IT MAKE IT?

I have the need at our U.P. cabin of a machine to help me with my sawmill and trails and property maintenance. I had a 1971 Ford Mustang that I had acquired to complete a swap for two other vehicles. A non running Mustang. I didn't know much about it other than I wanted to get it running, then trade it for, or sell it to buy, something to move earth and lift logs.
Below is a link to the topic on the Forestry Forum, that documents the events leading to this video. Driving home, the old case backhoe I ended up with. I thought about it all the way home. What in the world do I do if something goes wrong. Turns out Harold was thinking the same thing he told me.

I also have one. Love this machine. It works on my own property almost every day. Yours looks 10x better since mine has rust and more oil and grease on the outside than inside. Rebuilt the shuttle shift unit this year and I look forward to many more years of use.

I did a bunch of work with it this year. Dug my pond, made several videos doing that. It took me a bit to fall back in love with the deal I got, because about every other time I used it, it would blow a fifficult to replace line. I think in total 7. Ex pen sive. But, I think I have her back in dependable shape now. Knock on wood.

It’s not an 88…. If it were, it’d be a 580K, not an E. The K came out in July of 87.

Jeff, at least (it appears to be) it’s within 50mi of home. Especially if I remember correctly when I was up there at the last pig roast.
