Don't get your hopes very high, this place only looks this lush green for about 2 months, mid-June to mid-August... it then starts to yellow quite fast, and is desolate or covered with snow for like 9 months! And this applies to anywhere in the Alps above 1800-2000m, the Alps only look fully lush green for about 3-4 months, depending on the altitude

Nah, the Alps look about the same across Switzerland, Austria, Italy and France... and at €43 toll price just for this road pass (+ vignette price), there's nothing "cheap" about it!

@@martinfurtner2136 I have lived in Switzerland for some years, and everyone knows it's expensive in a lot of things compared to other countries, but Austria doesn't seem to be that much cheaper either, eg, the annual vignette in Austria is 96€ vs 40€ in Switzerland!

Ja Iris David, auch ich liebe meine Heimat! Und gerade in Zeiten von Corona kann man hier heroben der Enge unserer Städte wenigstens für kurze Zeit entfliehen und man ist dem Himmel etwas näher! Erinnere mich noch gerne an meine allererste Fahrt hinauf zum Fuscher Thörl mit einem betagten Crysler Simca, wobei mein Mädchen damals im Fond stand und sich im offenen Schiebedach den kühlen Fahrtwind ins Gesicht wehen ließ! Gott waren wir damals leichtsinnig! Aber mein Mädchen von damals ist noch immer an meiner Seite und mittlerweile auch schon 61! Schöne Grüße aus GU! 😍💖

Thank you for this video.. I rode Grossglockner in 2009, I think it had a single toll both back then, it is truly one of the world's best roads.. Was back in the Alps last September but could not manage to get there again.. Great clean stable footage, the way it should be done..

At 82, I find myself driving slower. Thus I also played this video first at 0.75 and then at 0.50, which allowed me to notice details that enhanced my enjoyment of your great video. What with COVID-19, it seems that the safest modes of transportation are bicycle, motorcycle, car, and motorhomes. Planes, trains, and ships are out. But we can still enjoy traveling with beautifully done videos -- with a minimum of dialogue and music but with natural sounds -- like yours! Thanks!

A great road indeed. I always book a room at Berggasthaus Wallackhaus when going over there, It's by the road down towards Heiligenblut, and has really nice views. I try to go out at night with my camera, you are able to get some incredible pictures of the night sky from outside the property.

Connys, ich habe in Mettmann bei Wuppertal gewohnt und bin da oft hingefahren - da ist eine nicht so weite Tour. Auch jetzt, aus Hamburg, fahre ich da oft hin. Zur Großglocknerstraße sind es von hier ömmelige 8 Stunden, das geht doch. Also: never say never... es lohnt sich wirklich!

Fab no of cycles...drove over there in 1971 in August in a 1964 MGB. including the Edelweiss. Road was a lot quieter then. Shot up edelweiss so quick arrived at the smallest carpark on top that nearly shot over the far edge. Great days. Fab holiday. ..

I’ve went on vacation in Austria a few years back and it almost didn’t even feel like a real place. Like something that existed in another world, disconnected from all the troubles of society. The recognizable houses almost feel like they are just there for the aesthetic and nobody actually lives there even though that obviously isn’t the case.
