Let go for a road trip to one of my favorite places in Mexico. Atotonilco El Alto. We will drive through beautiful ranchos and stop for snacks.

My family is from Atotonilco el Alto. Matter of fact, my grandfather owned a ranch with Chato Fonseca in Nuevo Valle. It used to be called "Hacienda del Valle" way back when. Fonseca is my last name, too so Astrid and the owners of Licoreria Fonseca are my relatives. There was a priest from Hacienda del Valle named José de Jesús Angulo del Valle y Navarro who became the pastor in San Francisco de Asis, Atotonilco. He's the one who learned of the plot to kill my grandfather (and then warned him so my grandfather left for Texas where my dad was the only one of 11 to be born in America) when my grandfather was a cristero. One of my grandfather's townsmen was going to set him up to be killed because my grandfather refused to take part in the attack on the train in La Barca, Jalisco. My grandfather said he would not take part in the killing of innocent people. His name was Cruz Fonseca. My other grandfather was Cristobal Lozano. I know your time is limited but you should do a video where you go up 16 de septiembre past Calle Santa Rosa (my grandparents lived on that corner in the big house on the right with the arches) and past Los Chorritos and Casa Siete Leguas. Just beyond El Molino is the house my parents built (it's white) and it's on the right side of the road across from the other white house. It belongs to my sister now. Then, you can drive along la cuesta to the mirador and look downward to Atotonilco (like at the doctor's, say "Ah"-toe-toe-NEAL-co). It's a marvelous view. You can also do a video of San Francisco de Asis. That is where all of my familia is originally from. Just past Embajador, on the main carretera that runs northward, turn right going towards La Purisima and there is my ranch on the south side of that road that goes to La Purisima. It's planted with agave now. You are sitting on a goldmine of videos you can do. Arandas, San Ignacio Cerro Gordo, anything along Lake Chapala, like Ajijic, Tepatitlan, Capilla de Guadalupe, Jalostotitlan, San Julian, San Miguel el Alto, San Juan de los Lagos, Lagos de Moreno, Betania, Jesus Maria and even into Guanajuato like Leon and Guanajuato city. Plus, Tlaquepaque. You have so much material you can use. There are so many Irish, English, Scottish, Italians and Germans in Atotonilco that work for Diageo and the new distillery that's being built in La Barca. They all stay at the hotels like Casa Rubio and Hotel Real Cervantes (my cousin works there). You should try and interview them for a video on what they think about Atotonilco. Also, Don Julio (yes, THAT Don Julio) had a house a half block from the town plaza. It's called "Casa de Casas" and it's on Calle Morelos. My cousin, Pati, owns that house. It's a bar/restaurant on the first floor and an homage to Don Julio and the founder of Siete Leguas. My grandfather bought the house off of Don Julio and gave it to my tia Cuca who passed it down to Pati. You have so much to work with just even in the town of Atotonilco. Take the kids to Taretan and go for a swim. And then there's Parque Los Sabinos. Go to La Violeta in San Pancho to eat frog legs. I wish I was down there right now. Hopefully in September I can go. My cousin is the presidente municipal de Atotonilco. He's another Fonseca. Fonsecas are EVERYWHERE down there.

For the female duckling: Blanca/Blanquita (white) or Nieve (snow). For the male: Cafecito (since you like your coffee) or Chocomilk (since the kids like that drink)

Thank you. I used to visit my grandma in Colotlan back in the 80s. Colotlan is no longer a "Pueblo" it's too big it's now a ciudad. How many people live in your rancho? I was telling my dad about your channel and I had him explain to me what a Rancho, pueblo and ciudad is. I would love to grow my own food but my heart and soul are in other places just like yours are here in this beautiful land. I love your suegra, she is so nice to you. Hugs to you all and blessings.
