I lived in Stone Ridge from 1963 to 1984 and knew Kingston well. The Glass Menagerie, Wall Street, Abrahms Music, Sam's Swap Shop, Yallums, Flahs, Dietz Stadium Diner, Kingston Tea Garden and on and on. I got caught shoplifting at Britt's in 1971 and was scared straight, never shoplifted again.

I was born at Kingston hospital in 85' Benedictine and Kingston aren't that anymore. Both are managed by a corp called Health Alliance. Kingston's not a bad city. Went to KHS too. Graduated in '04.

Hey, thanks for giving us a decent look at Kingston. Really not a bad town. I have been there off and on, (50 and 60 yrs. ago), but never really got to know Kingston very well, despite previously having lived maybe 30 miles from there. I lived on the east side of the river, and never had much reason to get over to the west side, other than the Hunter - Tannersville region. Wish I had. Good to see it again.

I wish you would have come during fall, or Christmas. The town is all a glow with beautiful lights , and music for.either season and in the fall theres hot cider with cinnamon sticks and cinnamon sugar donuts fresh made available on every corner. In Christmas season there are carolers dressed from a time long ago singing up and down the streets, and hot chocolate sold at every corner. In the summer there are beautiful beaches, swim holes with waterfalls, out door dining along the Hudson for every budget, box car racing, free petting zoo, parks, bike trails and hiking trails that take you breath away. You could literally go through the most beautiful trail on bikes or by foot all.the way to New Paltz surrounded by nothing but trees and streams the entire way! I could.go on but I'm assuming no ones reading this anyway.😁

I used to work up in Kingston, in a place on Hoffman Street off Broadway, where I did assembly line work, it used to be called Gateway Industries Community Workshop, it was for physically and mentally challenged adults. It's now a hardware store, but when I worked there ut was not a very good place, and all the people that worked there weren't paid minimum wage, we were called clients not employeesm and it was all sub contract piece work, so we were paid literally 2 cents for every rhousand pieces that were done in a day. The people that were running the plqce were clearly breaking the law at that time in the 70s. When i left there, someone blew the whistle on the plac3 and the police raided it, arresting all; the supervisors, for pocketing the clients money for their own reasons, The pay i got, and what everyoee there got was terrible.

Thanks for this video, i am from eastern Long Island NY and interested in purchasing a 2nd home in this general area. On the western side of the NYS Thruway to be specific. I have hiked along the Hudson River and came out at that waterfront area with the restaurants u showed, (they seemed overpriced on their menus tho). Nevertheless after selling my ski house in Windham Ski center ( nothing to do there except skiing in the winter) we are looking to be near a city for all the amenities that a city offers,,,,tho not actually living in that city. Thanks again for the fantastic video !

Your video of Kingston was great but honestly I barely recognized a thing as it's been 40+ years since my last visit. I'm going back in October 2023 and trying to figure out the best area to stay in. The water area wasn't developed yet. Did that look like a good area?

They closed down all the sheltered. workshops like Gateway, because of the illegal practices of those places of those places and U for one wss glad that they were closed down.
