great tips! I agree, DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS DRIVE NONSTOP! We have done the drive from Massachusetts several times now and this past summer was our first attempt at doing it non stop. We left our house at 7:30pm on a Friday, we were on the NJ Turnpike by midnight and over the Delaware Memorial Bridge at 1:45am. This was about the point that I began to get tired. I pushed through and we got to our next gas stop at 4:30am in Fredericksburg, VA. We grabbed some food and gas and we were back on the road. There was a very serious accident north on Richmond so it took us nearly 2 hours to get through Richmond. That was when I hit a wall (figuratively!!). I had to pull off and let my wife drive for a few hours. She was exhausted too but at least she got some sleep overnight. I took over again after a few hours and we switched 1 more time before I did the final stretch between South Carolina and Orlando. We pulled up to our hotel at 8:30pm, 25 hours after we left home and we could not get to sleep fast enough. We had planned a non stop on the way home but after the drive down we agreed we had to stop. We will never do that drive non stop again. It's not worth the risk.

I drove to New York about 5 years ago from Florida Panhandle we left at 9:30pm I drove thru the night but at around 7am next day I was extremely tired and this was in Greensboro North Carolina so I asked my dad to help me out for and hour so he did and then by 8am I woke up and took over from there till we got to Brooklyn... man let me tell you that was exhausting

Ive made the trip from NJ to Disney many times. We leave around 6pm at night and don't stop plus we never hit traffic. Everyone is different - we only go non-stop and never an issue for us. We get to enjoy our first day as we typically arrive around 11:30 - 12:00 and hang by the pool all day.

I drive from NJ Toms River area to St.Augustine Florida every year and always drive there and back straight through 16-17 hours with stops and traffic usually it really isn’t hard at all but I also drive for a living so I’m used to it and I have more energy at night than during the day so I leave NJ around 6pm at night so I skip Washington DC and Baltimore traffic since it’ll be middle of the night and I’m usually there by 10-11AM

It’s so much fun driving from NY to Florida, we get snacks and are prepared always that’s the trick
@TheHTFAmv8 ай бұрын
The furthest I've driven myself was from Vermont to the Jersey shore. It was about 6 hours, but i was used to driving there, since I was in college at the time. I completely skip NYC bc I'd rather not deal with it (I took the Tappen Zee Bridge) But the longest trip I've been on is when my dad and I moved across the country from Southern California to NJ in 2011, but I don't remember it too well.

Hey man, nice tips. I'm going with my mom and dad to Florida for vacation and we're driving because the rental is a lot of money for two weeks. I went in 2016 by car and hated the trip back. This time I'm actually really excited because I'm 21 and I have my own car so my dad and I will switch back and forth. The GPS says that its about 19 hours from where we live which is on Hudson County. Very excited for the road trip! Thanks for the tips!

Awesome video, I just came back from WDW driving from Philly suburbs not long ago and I wouldn’t trade that family bonding experience for the world. One major point you forgot to mention… the drive back home SUCKS and also beware of Virginia cops, they don’t play! Amped for your Disney vlogs!
@FamilyTimeVlogsFTV2 жыл бұрын
Yes VinMan those VA cops don’t play hahah. Yes the drive home is the worst that’s kind of why I never vlog it, but this year I just might! Lol

VA cops! Also from the Philly burbs (montco) and, my sister lives in Fairfax VA, first time my siblings went to visit her (all separate vehicles) were hit with a combine 5 tickets between 3 of us! It was insane the traps and drops. I’m going to try this drive for the first time with my son. I’m an optimistic person, and can stop in… VA 😂

Great timing - we leave around 6pm from NJ and get there around 11:30 - 12 thats with 3 stops for gas and breakfast at Cracker Barrel. We typically stop in Kingsland GA for breakfast around 7ish as soon as it opens and its only about 3 hours from there. you don't hit any traffic.

I’m agreed with you. Flying is much more expensive than driving a car. Going with a train/public transportation is even more expensive than driving the car fro a to b. Specially when you’re with a family. And i’m also agreed with the good old roadtrip and spending time with your family. From All the vacations with my parents from when i was young I remember the car/roadtrip vacations the most. More than the flight vacations. It’s just more like a adventure. But i do think that driving in the States is more relaxed than here in Europe
@jdnrotterdam21502 жыл бұрын
Are you going to do it different this time? Like with parts/episodes? Like episode 1 filming the roadtrip to Disney . Step 2 parts of the days in Disney. And the last step the drive home ? And than all in one line instead of some videos here and there over a longer period?
@FamilyTimeVlogsFTV2 жыл бұрын
That’s a great idea and yes this time I do plan on doing more of a continued story rather than stand alone videos! Thank you so much for that. I can’t imagine driving in Europe is the traffic very bad?
@jdnrotterdam21502 жыл бұрын
@@FamilyTimeVlogsFTV nice! Because i think than us viewers will have a experience like we are with you on the trip. Specially people like me who’s never in disney or america. Imagine… everyone in the Nissan! Yes driving in western Europe is crowded . Everything is smaller and mote compact

What time do you suggest leaving for the drive back north?
@FamilyTimeVlogsFTV7 ай бұрын
I’m not sure we always tend to around 9am sometimes early but we never tend to his traffic. We try to stop in Virginia and finish the drive to Jersey very early though so we don’t hit traffic. Traffic south of VA is usually none existent so wouldn’t worry about it to much.

@FamilyTimeVlogsFTV7 ай бұрын
I want to say yes it’s definitely possible but the problem is it’s not safe 16+ hours on the road alone is rough. What I would do if I had to do this drive alone straight through is take a few mini stops to spread out and walk around a little and if you feel yourself getting tired at all park and nap either at a rest stop or Walmart. Ultimately if I was doing this drive alone I would stop in Savannah GA

@carmelinafaraci8225 Жыл бұрын
More than enough. Break your trip up ...how far do you want to get in day1 vs day 2 and then day 3 arrival. if you're willing to drive 8-10 hours a day you'll be fine. Every time you stop make sure you get out and walk around and stretch your legs. Stay hydrated and bring gum and sun flower seeds to keep yourself occupied
