Back in 1991, The Washington State Department of Transportation drove West/East on SR-510 and recorded video to document the highway. This was part of a project that photographed/videotaped the states highways every couple of years. This video now resides at The Washington State Archives who were kind enough to share it.

Crazy how many farms turned into neighborhoods/strip malls/apartment complexes. This area has seen so much growth in the last 20 years! Moved here in 2006 and have watched a lot of it. Thank you so much for uploading this, I’ve always wanted to see what this area looked like before the 2000s.

I have lived on this road since 2007 and always wondered what it looked like before all the neighborhoods went in. Our house was once on its own piece of land right behind the elementary school and farm passed in the video…. In 94’ the land was developed into a neighborhood and houses built all around ours, the original. It was crazy to watch the video and see a simple gravel drive and a single mailbox where our neighborhood entrance now sits! Thank you so much for this! You satisfied a curiosity I’ve had for over 15 years!😂

I started working at Pacific Topsoils on 35th in 1984....132nd was a narrow 2 lane country road then.

I grew up in a trailer park behind the barn to the right (8:07, left at 17:59). The end of the gravel road there was my bus stop for school. I had just turned 7 and started first grade at Silver Firs Elementary maybe 2 or 3 weeks before this was recorded. 17:17 was the old buffalo farm on the right. Progress came and took its toll.

I remember these days. Very bittersweet to see how it changed. Mostly bitter.

Wow, amazing to see that where I live now was nothing but trees back in 1991, how much this area has changed in 32 years, heck even in the last 3 years! My kids watched this video and they are amazed that not even their elementary school wasn't even built yet.

Buffalo farm at 35th. My wife would have moved into her house in 1988 and took horse back riding lessons there.

Thanks for uploading this! We moved to the area in 2000, just 9 years after this video. Amazing to see how much had changed in that time span. We bought our home in the Highlands East neighborhood and that was the end of 132nd/134th. Cathcart Way was not built at that time. I think I spotted some “New Homes” signs at the intersection of 132nd and 35th. Possibly for the Pioneer Trails neighborhood?

From 15:30 heading east on 132nd is just mind blowing. That stretch all the way to Silver Firs/Glacier Peak High School has been developed so much since this video was taken. Seeing Thomas Lake before it was developed is fascinating as well. Thanks for the upload.

It used to be such a beautiful area. If you are reading this and bought a new house in one of those gigantic developments you should be ashamed of yourself. They wouldn’t build that garage if there weren’t buyers

I knew about the buffalo farm along 132nd, but I had no idea how rural the area was back then.

Woah so much of this was farmland. I’ve only known it as mill creek. 11:02 now has grocery stores and restaurants all around and a little further down their are swift bus stations where there used to be empty field!
