I passed my test 96. Realise I'm getting old watching this.. Its great TV. The dog, Elvis granddad, wedge haircuts.. Simpler times, how times change. No designer clothes, Audi or BMW, most people were happy with a fiesta

This show felt so serious back when I was younger but now I honestly feel its a spin off of That Peter Kay thing or Phoenix Nights. The scene with Joans husband is pure satire.

I know she was fond of the car, but I agree with Dave, that Lada was way too heavy for Maureen to learn in, plus I image her instructors' cars had power steering. When I initially attempted to learn to drive in my teens, the car I used for private practice had no power steering and was like driving a tank compared to my instructor's car. Plus, Maureen and Dave show that sometimes loved ones, though the mean well, are far from the best people to teach you to drive.

I love somebody who keeps trying and is determined to pass, but Maureen just isn't learning from her previous mistakes and failing a driving test eight times suggests that she will never be a safe driver. Even if she does later go on to pass her test; would she carry out all the observations if she was driving on her own? I doubt it.
@Andyscobie8 жыл бұрын
I agree. Maureen was not learning from her mistakes, you would think that after failing at least 2 tests on gears and observation she would have moved to an automatic (which in later episodes turned out to be her salvation). I will say however that learning with her husband was not very productive. Fair enough she could only afford an hour lessons a week, however in my experience it is impossible feel comfortable and confident and take anything on board in such a hostile environment.

all of these issues with written test, yes i traveled a lot when younger so learned general stuff just travelling. not once did i read the theory book, just few vids of road signs and common questions that was it, got few wrong but it easy pass and more questions now and a hazard test so passed that first time, and my driving test was 55-58 min long basically an extended test what you normally get if you re sit your test but it was my first ever test but passed first time. i don't know if it how they did teaching back then but the roads are far more quite then than now
