Growing up in northern Sri Lanka back in the early 80s, I remember my grandmother used to sweep up any loose rubbish from lanes near the house every morning. Cleanliness was in ancestors' mindset; the generations that followed simply adapted to live the same way. When you are in a clean environment, one with the same mindset would feel guilty to throw a piece of trash on the ground.

Absolutely, As well I think the cultures of both india and sri lanka are very similar but compare to their behaviors, cleanliness I think Sri Lankans are for more than our neighbors; I'm sure its because of education. (free education to all from primary to tertiary; yes pros n cons there... but even mad peoples or beggers never throw their garbage openly several times I've noticed they 're using thrash bins. Cheers....

So you shouldnt bully other ppl boasting about your country. Honestly, Sl has less infrastructure and money compared to india,but SL has high literacy rate, high health and clean rates compared to india. You already proved it.

Wow they keep it really clean.. streets look so clean..Indian cities also are good but they are not so clean.. if we keep our cities clean even we can look as good as these cities.. one thing I noticed is Srilankan streets are so empty.. lol Indian streets par to 24*7 chahel-pahel rehti h .. Srilanka's population is too less I guess . .. we shall supply some of our ppl to them .. cuz empty streets don't look good.. yar cities should be hustling and bustling with ppl

@@24later1 Sorry mate. We're having a green eyed neighbor it interfere with all the matters here in sri lanka. Few years ago sri lanka wanted to purchase busses for public transport.. 1000 units & tender went to Japan. Alas, that fucking country interfered and dumped fucking carts through a credit line, forcefully. we always hate that country. Thanks for your comment.
