Walhalla is one of Victoria's historic gold mining towns. 2.5 hours/ 184km east of Melbourne.
This drive-through video shows the town from one end to the other.
This beautiful gold mining town, set deep in a valley, was the last place in Victoria to be connected to the electricity grid and is a genuine step back in time.
Come stay in a hotel, guest house, or camp...

I first went there in 1966, the mine was wide open to all, no door or anything, like later. The pub was still there then. Been a few times since. It has changed a fair bit I see. Lovely video. Cheers from Wagga.

It's a great place to explore and the drive through and up over towards Aberfeldy is fun too. Narrow though and steep drop offs.

What a great place to grow up. I remeber when they had no power and a coffee was just the regular type, no lattes etc. it was so intersting to visit back 'last century'! It certainly has changed.

Poor Walhalla, it's not abandoned though it doesn't have many permanent residents, about 16 people I think.

If i was living the i wouldn't consider it abandoned. I'm sure the residents would get a laugh out of it though.

Where in Walhalla did you stop? No photos or history. No explanation. Dash cam of road was all that was presented. Waste of data.

They have done some upgrades, tollets are opposite the main shop section and the old ones in the area now given to free camping are still there. I recently did the walk up to the cricket ground again, it was quite funny as two portables are situated with quite a good view of the cricket pitch. 🤣
