I've lived in Richmond for over 30 years and this is the first time I've heard anything about it being associated with car theft. It's actually a very nice city and like every city there are bad parts of town but generally it is very safe and nice.

Maybe if you live in the one side of town that's nice, west end. The Northside, east end and all of Southside are extremely dangerous. I live in highland Park and I hear shooting every night. I hate it. I wish my experience was like your as far as the city seeming nice, but every where I've lived there is crime all around. This city is getting worse too with the mayor being so weak on crime and punishing cops instead of career criminals.

I drove to Sterling VA back in March. The whole drive from Tampa was so nice, until I got to Richmond. They're crazy drivers there!!! Bigger city than I thought.

I used to live in Arlington VA for a while and I loved it. Sometimes I would go down south to explore the smaller towns. Virginia truly is a wonderful state, such natural and architectural beauty and alot of history, both good and bad.

It’s because 95 is the only way from the south up to DC/Baltimore/Philly/NY/Boston so you can imagine everybody coming up this way and we’re just trying to get to work. Plus all the tourists. Also the semis only drive at night out here.

Why would anyone who lives in Richmond or south of Richmond get on I-95 just to go up north and work when they can use the Amtrak Train station? Your statement would make sense if you were talking about Fredericksburgs.

@@JabrenHarris98 just because a train is there doesn’t mean people are going to take it. Especially if you’re going somewhere not near a train station. Just like airports. We have 3 airports in DC but that doesn’t mean people won’t drive to the other cities. Plus people might just be working locally but they still need to get on 95.

I'm from RVA (Richmond, VA) and I've never considered it part of the south. It's clearly Mid-Atlantic in its built environment similar to cities further north on I-95 along with DC, Baltimore, Philadelphia and NYC. Don't believe me? Actually drive into the city and you will quickly realize there are rows upon rows of row houses just like you see in cities up north as it was built around the same time period as those cities. It's southern-lite in culture; I'll give it that but it's nothing like what you would find in the deep south. You rarely ever hear of people here traveling south towards sunbelt cities such as Raleigh or Charlotte. People here tend to travel north and where people go so does the flow of culture. In that even though it was historically southern I think it's safe to say the RVA of today is securely in the Mid-Atlantic region of the US.

And then u compared Richmond is more like Philly and Baltimore? There’s only small sections of Richmond that’s like Baltimore and Philly and that’s the east end. North side is more like DC. South side is more like any city in the Deep South Raleigh, Baton Rouge, Houston etc.
