Great video on an awesome road. Can't believe they had to cut so much of it through the rock!

The Sydney - Newcastle Freeway is the coolest intercity freeway drive in the country by far and is really the only one that comes close to the levels of traffic that you see in the US or Europe. Well the freeway to Wollongong and the one between Brisbane and Gold Coast would be the other ones I guess. The freeway / highway between Perth - Bunbury can be busy, but not that level of busy! Not sure if you are still up around Newcastle way Sam, but if you are and are interested in a little bit of highway history, you can exit on Peats Ridge Rd when heading back south. It's the old alignment for the freeway and still has a couple of the old interchanges still in place. The section of the video down along Epping Rd brought back some memories. Used to drive that stretch from Pennant Hills to my work in Chatswood. Long time ago...back in the 90's. Was even busier then I think though as the M2 wasn't yet built. It was a great drive though, super busy and it seemed everyone drove the speed limit as a minimum speed. Thanks again for another great video! Just out of interest, I subscribe to youtube as a premium subscriber, so do they share any revenue from my subscription to your channel? I'm guessing the answer is no, unless you go over a certain number of subscribers.

I agree. It's the coolest intercity freeway I've driven in Australia. All of this east coast footage was recorded back in March, and I've been back in WA since. But that fact about Peats Ridge Rd is interesting. I just had a look, and sure enough, it was once called National Highway 1. I can imagine Epping Road being super busy without the M2. It's crazy to think that there was no continuous freeway north in a city the size of Sydney as recently as the 2000s! As for the revenue. I'm pretty sure YT passes revenue on from premium subscribers too. Not sure how they calculate it. Either way, I'm only making enough for a nice dinner once a month 😂

That was scary. I hate city traffic! Well done to you.
