@AC-pk4ut6 жыл бұрын
Hrithik his instructions are good, but his demonstrations not so good - you shouldn't rest your foot on the clutch like he does, for instance, or leave the clutch depressed (pedal down) at lights. Both of these will knock years off your clutch and cost you a £500+ repair...
@middlenameboom28876 жыл бұрын
What should I do at lights instead? Just have my foot brake down until I need to move, then press the clutch down?
@tajamulkhan756 жыл бұрын
MiddleName Boom no no, at light breaks, just pull up your handbrake and at neutral gear, then remove your foot off the clutch! Then when lights on start driving normally like before!
@middlenameboom28876 жыл бұрын
Ah thanks. I'm a new learner and want to make sure that I don't hurt the car :-D
@tajamulkhan756 жыл бұрын
MiddleName Boom No problem, also i forgot to tell, not necessary to pull handbrake, just use the brakes or if waiting for long then use handbrake and remove your foot off the brake, you don't want to use the brakes so much uncessarily, unless your driving normally and have to stop, obviously!!

Glad to hear you made it. I had to take my driving test in an unfamiliar new car ('73 Dodge Coronet with three-on-the-tree) when I had only been practicing in a smaller 1960 Studebaker Lark, also a manual. Examiner saw that I knew what I was about, just unfamiliar with the 23-mile-old car and its poor lines of sight (and a clutch that felt like a leg press machine). Passed first try, but barely.

So strange how cars are parked facing either directing in the UK. That's very illegal in the US. you would get towed. The narrow streets that are only wide enough for one car are pretty odd too. In the US they would just make those a one way road.

I just wish they encourage me instead of fueling my fear. Once the car gets fixed(broken cam shaft) I will just go ahead and drive without them since I trust my skills and really enjoyed driving before when no one was looking.
@andychow55094 жыл бұрын
You really shouldn't hold a car on a hill just using the clutch and gas pedal. That's a great way to prematurely wear your clutch. Other than that part everything is super good. Love the handbrake explanation and technique. In the other side of the pond they never teach us anything about the handbrake. It's basically "never use that, ever, unless you're parked on a hill". Meanwhile it's really a good technique if you don't want to smash into the person behind you or spin out your tires.

I was going to say the same thing !!! You should not be sat anywhere with the clutch depressed for all that time especially at lights. Engage neutral and apply the handbrake and wait for the lights to change. Going from 2nd to 1st is also a bad idea ! 1st gear should only be used when stopped and you are pulling away. 2nd gear can be used when moving even at a crawl.
@giantsquid92358 жыл бұрын
+momosan lol problem I run into in the states all the time, not many people drive manual so most people don't think like a manual driver, where I work If I'm not off the line the second the light turns green people are honking. I tend to watch the pedestrian walk signals for the light changes so I'm only holding the clutch down for a few seconds as opposed to an entire light
@jjpb938 жыл бұрын
To be fair if he'd been stationary at lights with no chance of manoeuvre then he should have thrown it into neutral but he's in a filter lane so if there had been a break in the traffic he could have gone, he had no way of telling if he'd be there a few seconds or a few minutes. He could have thrown it into neutral after waiting as long as he did, but your overdoing the amount of wear those extra seconds will put on the clutches' throwout.
