Weirdly, this vehicle works best in SPORT mode with TCS OFF. I did a LOT if testing, and for these conditions I found SPORT mode was best because it didn't cut power. (It also does EXCELLENT donuts in that mode too!)

@mtbrdude that's what I like about my Touareg. When in "off-road" mode, when you hold TCS for ~1 second, it turns off. But if you keep holding it for ~5 seconds, it turns everything off - and I mean everything, you are in full command of the car. You want to put it in 1st gear and hold it at red line? Yup, it's your choice. It's pretty much never needed, unless you want to do donuts, but it's good to know that the option exists.

Omg thank you for making this snow video! Out of all the vehicles I test drove, the Honda Pilot Trailsport got my heart immediately. I was ultimately between this and the 4Runner and decided to settle for the Pilot instead because the 4Runner was too slow and outdated for me (its infotainment screen kept lagging). The Pilot sits high up with A LOT of visibility, drives so lightly/smoothly, is spacious with the usability of a minivan, and has a naturally aspirated V6. It went over cracks and gravel on the road like nothing. Not to mention the high resale value with 55% after 5 years. Honda really knows how to tune their I-VRTM transmission because the drive train was incredible.

The problem with that is that is not what the manufacturer recommends doing and not how many people would ever drive it so its important to test the vehicle at what is recommended and in some cases he will air down just to do a test and see if it actually handles it better or not because he has done it in some videos. I agree though airing it down probably would have helped but this is review video and since the manufacturer doesn't specifically state to do that you really should be testing based on their recommendations.

Ryan, Am I the only one who keeps confusing the Passport Trailsport with the Pilot Trailsport? 🤣

I have my Eyes on the Honda Pilot for a While and I really like the New Pilot👍👏👍...... But I wish Honda makes Hybrid model soon Comparing to Toyota Highlander Hybrid

I'm impressed that it actually made it...though it WAS quite the struggle. I have an Olde '2010 RAV4 AWD V6, and though it doesn't have the fancy modes, I CAN turn both the TC and stability control completely off, so, then the only thing cutting power is the monkey behind the wheel. In addition, up to 25mph I can lock the front and rear (sadly, open) diffs together. Toyota really screwed up in NOT having at least a limited slip option for the rear diff, I can't even find an aftermarket LSD for it. Sad, because while it's a lot more capable than you'd ever think, it'd be SO much better with an LSD in the rear. Also, I put Michelin LTX M/S tires, work great all around and in snow, if not quite as good as Blizzaks in the really nasty snow/ice (live in CO and now drive mountain roads to work at 9,300ft). Best tire I've ever had on the RAV since I bought it new, I'd suggest them for any SUV or truck where super aggressive tires aren't needed.

Never going to match a vehicle with low range. My Armada would have had this over within 5 minutes. Great review as always. Thank you.

5:30 I’m sorry, this is in no way a competitor of the 4Runner. I can see people cross shop them, but they are not even the same class vehicle hahaha.

Thank you for your video, One note, if you can please emphases on how is noise transferring to the interior as that could mean for some of us a deal breaker. beside that a great video.🙂

So which is better the Honda Pilot Trailsport or Subaru Outback Wilderness?
@trailrunnah88869 ай бұрын
I like this vehicle a lot, it's my favorite off-roady crossover, at least until the new Passport comes out. I think a closer competitor to this than the 4Runner would be the Grand Cherokee. It's a unibody vehicle that is available with a third row, and it has the added advantage of an available traditional two-speed transfer case. IMO, the two-speed transfer case is what really separates the off-roaders from the soft roaders, to me body on frame construction isn't that relevant.

All about use cases and things the vehicle is used for (you clearly don't tow a lot)....but neither the Jeep or the 4Runner will be as good in a collision.
@trailrunnah88869 ай бұрын
@@jackhammerpka yep, definitely don't tow. If I did I would not own a 4Runner, haha. Not sure about the new one, but the previous gen Grand Cherokee could tow up to 7500 lb, 50% more than the 4Runner. And you're correct, use case makes a big difference.

what about using the manual shifters to keep it in gear and hopefully not loose all your rpms

make a playlist of your snow hill test videos. would lvoe to see you test WITH proper tires. There's no point in comparing cars when the most important variable isn't accounted for.
