In the Devi Bhagavata Purana and other texts, the sage Narada became a woman after bathing in a lake at the direction of Vishnu. The story goes that:
Vishnu instructed Narada to learn more about the nature of maya, or illusion.
Vishnu led Narada to a lake, where Narada bathed and was transformed into a woman.
The woman married a king named Taladhvaja and had many sons.
After some time, Vishnu dispelled the illusion and restored Narada to his male form.
Narada came to understand the concept of maya better, but concluded it was still mysterious to him.
Narada is known as an official informer in heaven who helps communicate information between gods. He is also believed to be relevant to modern journalism and communication.
