Hi DR Lori Im an 83 year old who has been obsessed with antiques and old stuff since I was 15. Over the years I have seen many "appraisers" pull that stunt of undervaluing something and then trying to buy it .It is so refreshing to have an honest person like you out there doing what is right. Keep up the good work. PS I LOVE YOUR UTUBE VIDEOS! THANK YOU

I am a realtor and you bring up a super important statement that list price is what someone wants for their piece ( or home) and sold is what we actually use to give true values at the current market. The facts are all that matters :) Totally relate to this! I am really learning so much from you. Thank you

I am learning a tremendous amount from you!! I love your videos and look forward to your appraisals. My question is (and I think you said this) will you scan over a "bunch of stuff" and be able to say quickly which is worth appraising and what is not? I am almost unpacked from 2.5 years of renovation, and as I get things out I wonder is there much value to this object. I know cracks and chips, for example, devalue things, but do not totally mean they have no value. I have a lot of things to consider since I am turning 74 next week and am one of the family "keepers" of antiques.

Dr. Lori is such a gem to the world. If appraisers were a stone, she’d be the blue diamond. I LOVE your honest, outspoken, and many times comical advice. I particularly loved, as you stated in this video, that appraisers you shouldn’t sell to. Case and point, I’m a shop owner, and I know of an Antiques appraiser who does estates. He used to come to a local auction house that I went to. Always the front seater, had to be the center of attention in the crowd. Very arrogant man. He would outbid most buyers and score furniture for $60-100, and then you’d see them listed on his page. For THOUSANDS of dollars! He knew what he was looking at as he inspected things at the auction during preview time. He couldn’t hold a candle to you in the honesty and integrity department, Dr. Lori. If I trusted anyone to tell me honestly how much a piece was worth, I’d come to you first. SO glad I subscribed to your channel. I love how you eye things with your loupe and toss it over your shoulder and give people the straight truth! 😂 I can watch any of your videos and it inspires me, makes my day, and reminds me there is good in the world. Keep rockin!

That said I become I better hunter. Now the dilemma, my better items become harder to comp appropriately. When I go to first dibs and see the prices for the SAME items I have, it’s no where near eBay comps. eBay is my first platform and second is Etsy. I am very thankful that you became an appraiser for the underdog. I've inherited two storage units on behalf of my daughters from their paternal great grandma. That side of their family is a generationally wealthy oil family from small town Texas. The more I go through it the more overwhelmed I become; I grew up on the other end of the income bracket on the other side of the actual bracket. Other than my innate taste/eye, I know nothing of the assets they were left. I say innate bc the items I randomly choose to research are so hard to find it's like they never even existed. When I do finally make some headway, I find them priced at a value that I feel like someones yanking my chain. About 6 months ago I found something in this unit that made it obvious I needed a person I can trust appraisering my children's heirlooms. And Dr. Lori, I need someone who I can trust and has wherewithal such as yourself. It's a the freshest breath of air in a long time. My finds and curious demeanor is similar to the lady you spoke of with the obituary. As soon as I get my first payment from my first ever eBay posting of what I thought was a currently trendy vintage dress (it was vintage couture) I will be setting up a video chat with you. Until then, I will be taking notes and learning from your content. Thank you Dr. Lori for sharing yourself and your incredible knowledge for us all. I'll be in touch. 😊😊

That’s why I like you and I have recommended you to several people; on your appraisals you have come out with items. I used to do antiques, collect them personally. I’ve gotten away from them. But I do know pricing on the value. As you value the items I guess what the prices are, but when you appraised things before you even say how much they are, I just guess to myself, but most of time I am on price. But some I’ve been off. I’ve been out of doing it for 20?yrs now. I am hoping to get back into it. It a challenge for me. But I really appreciate you and you background knowledge. I have a few good antiques books on glass, wood furniture, toys, dishes, vases, and more. But like I said I’ve been out of it for 25 years. Thank you a lot for being honest thank you.

I'm just glad you love what you do! I'd rather find something that makes you say, "Wow!" than win the lottery. I recently purchased a lot of furniture from an auction. I really liked the coffee table and I could use the cabinet, but had no room for the side tables. I spend quite a bit of time in thrift stores and recognized the side tables as something that would easily be priced for 30 or 40 dollars at a thrift shop. I sold them on Facebook Marketplace for 25 dollars. The coffee table is Heywood Wakefield and I love it. The cabinet is particle board, but has a cool mid-century style. I paid 5 dollars for the lot. Thank you for your inspiration and all the information!

The most important thing I've learned from you, don't assume something has no value just because I own it. I've done that all my life and no more. As soon as I inventory the jewelry I've inherited, I'm taking out a special subscription service with you. Thank you. And yes, I share your videos on social media.
