Reminds me of my pilgrimage to India during the Simhasta Kumbha Mela in 2016. I was abandoned and left to starve and get sick in the middle of the largest festival on the planet (amidst millions and millions that did not speak English). That night (after I paid homage to the Mahakal Mahalinga & the Shakti Pith) I was greeted with a secret darshan of the true meaning of Mahakal. All that before I had to figure a way to get to the airport four hours away from Ujjain in 116 degree F weather (I had to stay at a goddess temple and get bit by dog fleas the night before I could go into the airport and leave). It was quite the hero's journey. But I had already done a hero's journey prior when I joined the Army and was actively sending the V Corps from Germany to Arabia during the first Gulf War (I was born among the working classes, so a call to adventure for me was joining the Army). There is a secret psychonaut journey I also started in the rain forests of the Caribbean in the 90's with amazonian shamans, but that I will one I will speak of in whispers to the few. I also have a large oil on canvas painting of Dionysos. The Swat Valley was the petri dish that allowed the Western Mysteries to survive the Dark Ages of the West.
