It was on Crewe Bog, Lough Easkey Road, Co. Sligo. Just past the Lough Easkey Water Works building on the way to Lough Easkey.

thanks for that I was born in ballina I probably travelled out of ballina approx. 4 times once to castlebar tonsils removal once to eniscrone a free day out thanks to st vincent de paul charity also regular weekend working trip to the peat bog to harvest . i loved it except for the dry turf dust getting in eyes no safety then l o l. then the big one immigration. brilliant post.

it's used as a fuel source, either cooking or heating .

@@DriftKid987654 its not mud its the roots of dead plants and stuff it gets dried and it becomes powdery like stuff that burns good

It's called turf and we use it for to heat in the house inwinter time
