The downtown has so much paved over land. Years ago there was no thought as to keeping it a vital part of the city. Residential growth moved far away from the town center and the town is locked into a car centric growth. This city is difficult to live in. The climate is unpredictable with only the certainty of wind.

I'm from Dallas and used to want to move to Amarillo because it's only a six hour drive to our family's place in Colorado. Even now I think that would be so nice.
