The only gripe I have with this reel is the weight, but that goes with the size of the reel kzbin.infoUgkxM68VkfsQhHaabDce1IwOCXuvumcpbZ_k . I brought this salmon fishing up in Oswego, NY. I coupled it with a Cabela's Whuppin Stick. I had no problem pulling in a 14lb salmon. I will probably use this for surf fishing this summer and downgrade to a 3500 series Battle II next salmon season to save my wrists. All of the operations are butter smooth and the bail is nice and thick and has a solid flip to it. Everything about this reel is sturdy and strong. The drag system held up to the salmon and was also super smooth. I did use a scale to set the drag properly before going out to the river and this worked out tremendously. A bunch of other guys on the river would hook up and snap almost immediately. Just because you have a good drag system doesn't do anything if you don't set it correctly.

I do accept the defeat, Of course Briggsy would have already been neck deep in the water ready haha but my mate was flying the drone and I just straight up forgot! Honestly thought he was right behind me to get the fish but when I looked is when I realized I messed up! He was far way and the fish had one last chance to run and won! In hindsight, I should have taken this battle as if I was alone and pulled the fish at the end to the right! Like I said was my fault and yeah sad ending but I will be back! REVENGE 😅

I dont have big boys like that around me to tangle with.... but man if that didnt remind me of the struggles of salmon fishing off the bank. Ive ran down many banks to try and keep from getting spooled only to loose them at the bank.... heart break but at the same time man you werent going to keep it, seems to be what I like to call a short distance release :) but I've seen your vids, if anything youre upset you left a fish with a lure stuck in him, specially one of that quality. Something I love about you and your lads you fish with. Learned early yall are more heartbroken about leaving a lure in them than actually losing them, and thats awesome man.
