Fantastic Matt. Me and a few mates stayed in the old coast guard station for a few days. Didn't get to see much as we were on bikes and and it's hard to walk any distance with all the clobber on. Would so love to get back there and see more.

Your drone explorations of these big sites are excellent, especially having only visited the accessible touristy bits of Portland. The selfie shots of you sat on the cliff flying the drone are an excellent advert for dji. It's not the kind of content you normally put up, but would you consider making a short description video of the drone and fpv kit you use?

Looking at the former Osprey site reminds me of when they trashed HMS Cambridge, the gunnery school at Wembury Point near Plymouth. The site sat between the sea and the clifftop, and contained numerous independent gun systems, magazines, shell-rooms, classrooms, and offices. But when they went to town on the demolition there was barely a sign it had ever been there, and all you can see on Google Earth of the systems is the road that passed the canteen, and the faint circular ghost of one of the turret foundations in t he grass, down near the shoreline in Historical View for 2005. There were a few excavated magazines into the cliff, but the terraced step these were set into the back of has been completely filled in, so that the current grassy slope is now continuous where once it had flat areas. One punishment there in the 70s consisted of being told to pick up a dummy shell (56 pounds) from the classroom you were in and deliver it to another classroom down the slope. Once there, you would then be told to take the thing to the Master At Arms or the on-duty Regulator in the upper camp. He'd bleed your ears and tell you to take it back to where you picked it up from! The terrible accommodation there also had cellars, but I can't see a single sign of the mess block any more. Whoever does the demolitions in these places is obviously being briefed to do a proper job.

Been researching the rift caves of Portland for when we go there for a annual holiday to Portland. Love this drone footage of portland too, I have seen most of the island from the ground so seeing from above is great. Thanks for the footage.

Had a family vacation in Weymouth summer 2022, we all went over to portland bill see fancys farm and the disused RAF rotor bunker sites. Also light house and the M.O.D magnetic range site. Fantastic history and amazing site seeings. Thanks for the upload mate 👍🏼

Paul Cook has been doing some poking around at portland recently. Certainly a fascinating and very ancient site indeed. Having not visited in years I am looking to go back there myself this summer and have a gander at the "block work" with "fresh eyes".

For anyone that's interested, the battery at 17m 54s is Blacknor Fort and is on an aerial oblique on the Britain From Above site showing the original gun emplacements, guns, bunkers, and block houses in 1946. The image number is *EAW002982* It's in the bottom-right corner and at full zoom you'll see some pretty stunning detail.
