Stopped by there this past weekend and still amazed by the place. Was lucky to be able to visit the bar area when it was open in 2011. Wish I thought on taking pictures inside back then.

So sad that someone hasnt spent the money to fully restore this once gem of Illinios, its almost criminal to see it being let fall to its present state.

This is one of the most beautiful and haunting buildings I've ever seen. I've been having reoccurring dreams about this place since I can remember. I would love to see inside the hotel rooms and see if my dreams match what I saw. I've heard such eerie sounds coming from this building, and felt some very strong energy there. It's been an obsession of mine since I was a small child. I've taken many photographs and videos of this place over the years, and hope one day someone can buy and fully restore it. There is a group trying to save the Mineola in Fox Lake that sells T shirts, etc, even has a Facebook page. #SaveTheMineola They also used to have the best fireworks display every 4th of July directly over the lake in front of the Mineola. It was spectacular!

I visit it and take photos each time I come to Fox Lake. I wish someone would save it. I wonder if all the furniture is still in it. It would have been cool to look in one of the windows with your drone.
@WhatsYourGhostStory6 жыл бұрын
I tried to get close enough to do exactly that. Either every window was boarded up, or it was too dark to see inside. Either way, I couldn't get any good look at the interior. I've talked with someone who stepped inside maybe a year ago and they said that there was a lot of furniture still in place.
@themiskulaniuschannel97626 жыл бұрын
Scott Markus , I wonder if the owner would let some photos be taken inside.
@WhatsYourGhostStory6 жыл бұрын
I would love to have a conversation with him because this place NEEDS to be recorded before it fades into infinity. That said, even if he was okay with letting someone in to document the place, I don't think he legally could allow someone in since the place is condemned. Of course, it's still worth a shot, just in case!
@themiskulaniuschannel97626 жыл бұрын
Scott Markus , I believe he is the older man who runs the Marina next door. You should talk to him. Maybe he would let you in to document it. All he could do is say no! It would be a total shame for it to disappear and not document it. I heard that it is condemned, but the bones of the structure are sound. It just what is open to the elements that is really bad.

Thanks, man! Hopefully the demolition never happens, though it does seem most likely.

Yes, it is still standing and is in pretty much the same condition. I haven't been there myself since the video was shot, but I had a friend walk around it just a couple weeks ago.

I live like 10 minutes away. Will I get yelled at if I go to take pictures and visit this place?
@WhatsYourGhostStory2 жыл бұрын
You shouldn't as long as you only stay on the road that accesses the property and wraps around the front of it (between the building and the lake). That is a public road. However, everything else (even the parking lot) is private property. If you go, please let me know if there's anything fenced off yet. I was there about 2 weeks ago and everything looked the same, but a new owner just finalized purchase of the property and may be close to demolishing it. I'm curious when that's starting or if they put up fencing around the building yet.
@gbeatz48442 жыл бұрын
@@WhatsYourGhostStory just went today. No fencing or anything like that. I’ve driven through fox lake hundreds of times as I live so close but I never once went there. Beautiful look out over the water. Do you know if the owner is planning to rebuild a hotel there or no? It’s sad such a beautiful and historical building would just get destroyed.
@WhatsYourGhostStory2 жыл бұрын
@@gbeatz4844 Thank you for that update! The new owner, unfortunately, does intend to bulldoze the property and build a new resort on the land that honors the history and appearance of the old building. I think it's just too much work & $$$$ to try to restore the original building, which is a shame, but I get it from a business standpoint.

I went there to appreciate the beauty, but some people from the neighboring Marina started yelling at us and Called the Police for Trespassing...
@WhatsYourGhostStory6 жыл бұрын
I know! The people that work at the marina are insane! To simply walk around the area is NOT trespassing, but they still chase people out like crazy (just like the day we shot this and I too, had the police called on me a separate time). Of course, breaking into the place, yeah, that's not allowed, the parking lot area is considered private property too, but Mineola Road, which runs alongside the structure and between it and the lake is a public road, so standing on the road is legal. I'm sure there are nefarious people who are looking to break in, for who knows why, but it's legal see see from the road, so it's best to play it safe.
@numbskullnimrod4205 жыл бұрын
I've been chased off that property more times than I could count back in the 90s. I still go there today and take photos and vids. Not been harassed since the turn of the millennium. Maybe it's because now I'm an adult with an obvious camera, and not a kid sitting on the piers or trying to sneak up the stairs in the back. You used to be able to climb stairs outside in the back and go up onto the 2nd floor balcony.

@@WhatsYourGhostStory You are incorrect. Private property.
@WhatsYourGhostStory4 жыл бұрын
@@xenith5003 & Rob Brown, however I'm talking about Mineola Road, which is a public road. Yes, the Marina is private property and even the parking lot behind the Resort is private, but being on a public road (which goes alongside the Mineola and passes between it and the lake) is not trespassing.

@@numbskullnimrod420 wow - I've never had the opportunity to see the interior of the place....
