Dude. Cheers. I just inherited two of these plus a complete extra wingset. One stock that's never been flown. Another totally beefed with a chunky Cobra motor, Vector with all the goodies and a bunch of other upgrades. Barely flown. Way more plane than I've ever flown. Never used an FC before. Like Christmas. Am in the middle of finishing the stock plane to start. Was searching around for some good information on this plane and once again, I landed on your channel. Seems we like a lot of the same planes. That landing gear is insane. Our local paved MAAC airfield (I'm in Canada) just opened up after being shut down for covid so I may try using it. I prefer belly landing in grass if my arm can toss the plane so glad to hear that's viable.

I know! It gets better! There were several boxes of other stuff I tore into today. Looks like two more complete Vector systems, bunch of FC boards suitable for INAV, GPS units, airspeed sensors, Frsky receivers, motors, ESCs, UBECs, batteries, servos, linkages, wiring bits and pieces. An ASK21 glider, 3 Ritewing Specwings kits, a Z2, a Flinch. Gotta be at least a couple of grand worth of stuff. Not sure what I did to deserve it but not one to look a gift horse in the mouth. I need 4 build tables but the weather is so damned good and with the airfields opening up, I just wanna fly.

If you don't mind me asking, is this aircraft capable of flying waypoint missions autonomously? Also how far away from the launch point have you ever flown this plane? I fly DJI drones on waypoint missions but have always wanted a fixed-wing plane that is capable of much longer flight times. Two hours aloft is just amazing. I'm lucky to see 21 minutes with my quadcopters.

What is the difference between the 757-8 and the 757-3?
@Freebird_675 жыл бұрын
I had the previous version of this planetge 757-4 Ranger. I could never get it flying properly. Throttle ups gave me a constant up and down whale effect. Was super efficient but fly’s like crap. I ended up cutting fuselage into pieces for parts and kept the wing for future DIY build. The wing was designed well but fuselage on the 757-4 Ranger was horrible design. Love my Mini Talon,AR wing, and FX-61 wing. I may get one of these since seeing this video. I was holding off because of how it’s smaller brother treated me.

I got mine into the air ok but the build was a pain. I swapped out the motor and esc since it wouldn’t spin up enough to get off the ground. I kept the landing gear but one blind nut spun loose. The motor mounting nacelle is not substantial IMHO. Four dinky screws in pvc is not strong enough to handle the motor wt. and toque. The tail section mounting pins didn’t fit properly w/o some alteration. All in all my experience was the same once in the air but the build was a major problem for me. I had one Defective Y harness. Great design but awful execution.

I suppose the question remains, should a plane have to be built rock solid to withstand crashes if it's built well enough to actually fly decently? I'm a bit skeptical. Why did you crash it so many times? Did they mislabel the cg? Or were just rushing flights, my man?
@dronecamps4 жыл бұрын
Why jump to a bunch of negatives? It was hard to get my first flights right it happens. The plane is a long range legend in the community.

@@dronecamps Yes, the tubes are full of trolls and to be honest it's easy to take each other out of context or assume a tone. A few months ago someone actually commented on a pretty family friendly video of mine telling me my dog and girlfriend were ugly. wtf, right? There are dickheads everywhere. Yeah we have to accept all of these things in our flying experience. But, I guess it's all part of the fun. I smacked into a telegraph pole, decapitating my superEZ last week, I've had almost as much fun repairing it! Who knew!? I will admit, I prefer smooth landings. Almost lost the GoPro. Yikes. I'm very interested in going FPV with a Volantex Ranger 2000mm pusher prop but really don't want to have a set of goggles that gives me less than crisp footage. Any recommendations for set up?
