Reading the comments, everyone wants this drone to have all the bells and whistles, but this is a budget drone. It was designed to be a sub 250g low cost drone. In order to do that, a lot of things had to be left off, like sensors, the hardware to support them, and quick change props. Even still, this drone preforms well and delivers high quality which frankly more than justifies the price. If you need all the bells and whistles, get the Air 2.

Hello Ash. The MM2 is all that the MM1 should have been from start. I believe that DJI didn't want to overlap the MA1 with a cheaper product and therefore left a clear gap between the products. Now that the MA2 come out with incredible specs, DJI could unleash the full potencial of the MM. I have seen on a german site that MM2 has RAW and follow me. Maybe follow me is some kind of spolight as DJI has always stated that without at least front OA sensors no Activ Track will be implemented.
@Droning-ON4 жыл бұрын
That could quite possibly be true, but DJI generally don't provide older models with substantial new functionality because they know that such a move would hinder sales of the newer products. Thanks for the comment!

I have the mini and the air 2. I am an Amateur Photographer and use raw photos all the time. I haven't flown the mini since I brought the air 2. But I love the small nature of the mini to travel and take on motorcycle trips. 5 things stop me from fling the mini, conection, raw, 4k, panorama photos & wind resistance. If i had all those then i would not feel robed when i fly the mini over the air 2.
@Droning-ON4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment Alistair, to be honest the Mini can't be compared with the Air 2, one is bigger and heavier, plus requires registration in most countries now, whereas the Mini is the opposite of them all, a more ideal travelling drone! Thanks for the comment!

I think if they add front sensors with Activetrack, it would be a perfect drone, even if the price is $500.00. I agree, this drone is designed to be under 250g and is a great consumer drone. I had the Phantom at over 3 times the price and I think this will be a success for who it was designed for!

@@Droning-ON ..which, to be clear, is an *Swiss* website/domain (.ch = Switzerland), not Germany as you mention in the video. Technically is the German language page on the Swiss MediaMarkt website. They speak German, French, Italian as official top 3 'native' languages, which is why the website has three languages to choose from. I know, I know, it's a bit nit-picky, and Swiss Standard German is virtually identical to Standard German as used in Germany, with most differences in pronunciation, vocabulary, and orthography. *But* quite a number of Swiss don't like to be confused with Germans. :) (I learned this the hard way when dating both German women and Swiss women) :D Great stuff in the video otherwise! Thanks for the info! I'm an avid Spark and Mavic 2 Enterprise user, and looking forward to trying the Mini 2. It will be my 7th drone. :D

It would be great if the footage in this drone could match the original mavic air. DNG is great news but I hope they also increase the video bitrate or allow the ability to reduce sharpening etc. I hope DJI recognizes that the Mini 2 should have image quality to rival their more expensive drones when considering that not everyone can buy a Mavic Air 2 due to laws and restrictions and not due to expense. Unfortunately it looks like pricing increased quite a bit but if that means quality to match then great. Also a quick correction, that’s a website from MediaMarkt Switzerland, not Germany. Though German is one of the official languages of Switzerland.

As great as the new Mavic Mini 2 will be I genuinely hope they don't release a new Mini yearly. Drone companies should not imitate the business model of smartphone manufacturers. Unlike smartphones, drones are a more specialized tool that need to be ready to rock and roll right out of the box (except if you're looking at FPV build kits) and have good support for a long while after release. These things are meant to fly and we can all agree improperly supported drones are a bigger threat to public safety than aging smartphones. With that said, I'm sure the MM2 will be a great first camera drone for those looking to get into this hobby. If the original Mini wasn't feature packed enough then I'm sure this one will be. As an owner of the original Mini I see no reason to upgrade since my 2013 Asus laptop can't handle editing 4k footage anyway. I just hope a new Mavic Pro or Phantom drone is in the works for next year. The Inspire could do with a new iteration as well.
@Droning-ON4 жыл бұрын
That's very true, DJIs release cycle this year is insane, almost desperate for sales based on very minor iterations. Sadly I don't think that will change when the Mini 2 arrives!

@The-Opium-Den4 жыл бұрын
Unless DJI decided to put motors worthy of an FPV race quad on this new Mini the answer is almost certainly yes. The laws of physics and design constraints make it impossible to build a small drone that is equally stable in the air as a larger one. People should pay attention to wind conditions in weather reports more often or buy larger drones. It's unreasonable to expect something so small to hold its own on windy days AND have excellent battery life. You may only have one of these characteristics.
@Droning-ON4 жыл бұрын
Better motors and better wind handling courtesy of a battery change from lithium ion to lithium polymer, we should be better with that configuration! Thanks for the comment Baba!

The Best Buy leaks seem to be a deliberate marketing strategy to me. Why send out prototypes to a couple of dozen influencers when you can just engage a couple of average Joe KZbinrs to make a couple of videos, which in turn gets all the same said influencers talking and uploading vids of their own? Whatever the case, I want one! To ultimately replace it, I'd love a Spark sized drone with every feature the Spark has and then some, however, realistically this ain't currently on the horizon. Therefore the Mini 2, although lacking the sensors and a proper active track, has so many other goodies that'll more than suffice. The original Mavic Mini 1 didn't cut it sadly, while it's successor kicks some serious ass!

I hope not. A product like this should be allowed more than just one year under the sun to shine. Besides, people have been pestering DJI for new iterations of the Mavic Pro and Phantom lineups for a long time now. The Inspire series could use a refresh, too.
@tdmap22414 жыл бұрын
There is no need for a teaser. The product is already in the hands of atleast two consumers who already made unboxing videos.
@Droning-ON4 жыл бұрын
Yes agreed, although it would be strange for them not to continue with a teaser as they normally do!
@typxxilps4 жыл бұрын
The release strategy does work quite well considering the boxes are distributed already over all best buy across the USA. And since 2 guys could even buy them the whole drone world knows about it already and this time the big review channels are screwed a bit considering that the first videos already appeared. Also these review influencer guys can not participate in the current pre launch phase, they can sit and wait and produce content only. And they will get a lot lesser amount of attention cause on the date of launch everyone can buy one in the stores and they will hit a lot more competition from the first 24 hours onwards, less views and less purchases lead to less income. Also a good way for dji to get ridd off what some called the influencer mafia that gets review units before launch. DJI has won with this subversive or underground launch ... and pretty interesting to see that Media Markt went online ... until they must have been stopped cause no longer reachable via search site.
@Droning-ON4 жыл бұрын
This is quite standard, for retailers to stock a product prior to launch, but what's different about this is that the retailer BestBuy has accidently sold them before launch that's a major mistake;
