I didn't have any tier 10 American tanks or tank destroyers, so when I saw the E4 had a turret, it interested me. I saw you had a lot of good things to say about it, so I went for it. Loved the hellcat, at25/2, the t25 prototype's gun, and the T30 was excellent. My highest damage per game tank by far (I'm not very good but am getting 2500+ damage effortlessly in it). I got the E4 a few days ago, and I like the higher average speed. The reverse doesn't bother me because of how slow the previous two tanks in the tech tree were. However, that 6° of gun depression is rough. On perfectly flat maps I'm fine, but sometimes I'm on a slight slant and can't get my gun down far enough to shoot things. I thought I'd be okay because the e50 had 5 degrees over the front, but I don't get anything over the side in the E4. It's definitely a very tricky tank to position.

Man gun accuracy and reverse speed on E4... you are not good at sniping nore poking. E4 is great but it's a honorable mention tank. Most people suck at driving E4.
