Sick man. How do you drop an octave? I'm trying doing it with the fx in the gojira dsp but it sounds so artificial and electric

I don't think he dropped an octave. It's on a 7 string, so at most he dropped 7 semitones.

I threw it in Drop D with 12-80 NYXLs

Primarily I’m in Drop F and use a DT to shift from F to either E or D. Now that I have the DDT whammy again I use it for shifting up as well

Generally I don’t drop that low because you lose note definition
