Just means it's time to buy at rock bottom prices. No matter the ev downturn, the grid demands are off the charts. EU being the biggest buyer to fight off lack of energy with demand on wind and solar both requires tons of lithium. Those that say you can rely on lab sodium or other materials are way off 15 yr away as patents on them need to expire before mass adoption.

The U.S. has all the lithium it needs in California’s Salton Sea. Lithium is abundant, it’s the refining of lithium that is the most important part of production. Once again Americans can look to the leadership of Tesla who already has its refining plant up and running in the U.S.

Oversupply is one reason. It's also no secret that some future battery designs may not require Lithium. Lithium is still going to be used for some battery types but maybe not "all" of them.

We have an American public that mostly has little interest in EV’s, so of course there is going to be an oversupply just as there are tons of unsold EV’s on dealer lots right now. You can’t government mandate people to want something if they have no interest.

Judging from the long-term (longer than three years) price chart that was displayed, this is simply regression to the mean. That is, the price of lithium seems to be trending towards its mean price before 2022.

Lithium is not a rare earth metal. Further, about 80% of lithium mines are either in Chile or Australia.

I feel investors should be focusing on under-the-radar stocks, and considering the current rollercoaster nature of the stock market, Because 35% of my $270k portfolio comprises of plummeting stocks which were once revered and i don't know where to go here out of devastation.

IMO very different products. Lithium is great but it isn't an oil substitute. Tractors, military vessels, power stations which burn fossil fuels, all require oil and are not likely to be refitted with lithium cells (lithium itself does not generate energy, merely store it). Oil shocks will increase production and transport costs which will in turn be passed on to consumers, but aren't necessarily bullish for lithium

@@FatBoiSlim-gh18u9 re: bullish for lithium. The grid system, with whatever means you have to make power, needs battery system to store power ahead of when it is needed. Part of the so called "smart grid" plan is to do this.

At some point in the next 1000 years or so, when "they say" there is only 20 years of oil left ( something "they said" about 13 years ago) "they" will probably be right at some point. Best to work out the millions of problems with alternative energy solutions sooner than later.
